Don't Watch: Official Trailer for Jack Black's Gulliver's Travels

Fox has just debuted the first trailer on Apple for their holiday comedy Gulliver's Travels starring Jack Black as Gulliver, as well as Emily Blunt, Jason Segel, Amanda Peet, Billy Connolly and so on. As expected, this looks awful, like a completely uninspired and unoriginal take on the Jonathan Swift classic. The whole world of Liliput looks way too modernized and fresh, almost like Night at the Museum (which considering this is Fox, that's probably exactly what they were going for, as those movies have been financially success for them). I don't know about you guys, but I'm already not interested in seeing this. You've been warned!

Gulliver's Travels is directed by Rob Letterman, who is making his live-action debut after co-directing both Shark Tale and Monsters vs Aliens for DreamWorks Animation. The screenplay for this was written by Joe Stillman (Shrek, Shrek 2, Planet 51) and Nick Stoller (director/writer of Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Get Him to the Greek). This is based on Jonathan Swift's classic story Gulliver's Travels first published in 1726. 20th Century Fox is bringing Gulliver's Travels to theaters in 3D and 2D on December 22nd this holiday.

Okay I'll admit I kinda chuckled at that last bit in the trailer, but this deffentially looks like your typical Fox christmas, family, comedy so you know it will still make alot of $.

Looks like a great movie to see if you are really really bored or brought a hot girlfriend and just want to make out during the entire movie. Or you are below the age of 20. Definitely has the Night At The Museum vibe minus the "cool the museum is coming alive" thing.

The piss poor edited trailer might not do the movie justice. I'll wait until they release a second (hopefully better) trailer of this. I like Jack Black; I'll give this a chance. If not at the movies at least on Netflix. P.S.: The "Don't Watch" part in the headline always makes me wanna beat you to a pulp, Alex.

I was looking forward to this, but now I might've changed my mind. At first I was thinking that they were taking a long time setting up the story. In the trailer, he seemed to be spending a lot of time back in the "real world". Then it turns out that was by far the best part of the trailer. I still say Jason Segel should be playing Gulliver.

doesn't look to bad. Almost par with Year One which wasn't great but was a decent filler movie. i do like how the trailer doesn't give away ANY of the story, just shows how he is going to cover a story and gets swept into another world. least going in i don't know whats gunna happen other then that he is going to meet aton of midgets

whatever guys~ it looks like it will be funny- even if Jack Black is off sometimes, Segel usually chooses good scripts. We might be pleasantly surprised!
