Epic New Official Teaser Poster for the Strause Brothers' Skyline
Awesome, just awesome. Although I know there are some interesting rumors regarding stolen visual effects floating around, I'm still pretty damn excited to see Colin & Greg Strause's upcoming sci-fi thriller Skyline. We debuted an impressive teaser trailer for the movie last week, and now we have an awesome poster to go along with it, courtesy of STYD. I know I've called this "awesome" about four times, but it's a great poster, I love the way they're marketing this. Maybe it's just because I'm a sci-fi nut and this is right down my alley, but I love the look of it, the ships and invasion and everything. Check it out and let us know what you think?
In Skyline, strange lights descend on the city of Los Angeles, drawing people outside like moths to a flame where an extraterrestrial force threatens to swallow the entire human population off the face of the Earth.
Skyline is both written and directed by brothers and visual effects specialists Colin & Greg Strause, of a few music videos and AVP: Requiem previously, although they have an extensive visual effects history. Not only did they produce this, but they're doing the effects for it, too. The screenplay was co-written by newcomers Joshua Cordes and Liam O'Donnell. Universal is bringing Skyline to theaters on November 12th. You in?
Can't Wait to See Turk save the day!!!!

Alex, I dont see what the deal is, This is just Indipendence Day on steriods. and knowing these 2, its nothing too creative. Even the sound effects in the trailer if u listen closely r stolen from transformers. This poster looks just like id4. Im sorry but this looks terrible

Yawn. Oh, wait. What's that? Oh...Another aliens attack the world movie. Can someone out there in Hollywood do something with aliens that doesn't resemble humankind getting destroyed? Please?!?
ModernAmericanMan on Aug 18, 2010
Whatever you do, don't judge too quickly. Oh wait, too late. I said this about Avatar: Yeah, it's a familiar story, but if it's a good story, then so be it. I say bring on Skyline. Because Eat, Pray, Love isn't a recylced story either.

Couldn't agree more stan! Turk Turkleton will rise!
Xerxex on Aug 18, 2010
well now I have a legitimate reason not to move to california, with massive alien invasions on the rise I'd be hard pressed to find a reasonable apartment!
Xerxex on Aug 18, 2010
Poster is AWESOME man! Cant wait for this show.I like how original the ships are.Not some rounded UFO bullshit.

O come on guys its another movie, if ya dont like it then dont come here taking your time to make negative comments about it. The Negative/Positive comment ratio is starting to lean more towards the first on this site, and that's just sad.

Horrible poster. If I didn't saw the trailer/teaser previously, how could I know, looking the poster, that the ships are sucking people from the ground, which is supposedly shocking ? Without seeing the trailer, one could think that the ships are releasing a swarm of alien-insects or mini-robots, etc. Even looking at the big poster at shocktillyoudrop, its hard to find a person floating in there, unless you already know what you're looking for.

alex they are just trolls it is the cool thing to hate anything new and popular

It looks alright, I reckon the film will be watchable enough, it won't be a classic like Turner and Hooch, but it will be pretty good. As for the alien movies where aliens befriend humans wouldn't they be a little boring? Plus human beings can't even get on with each other, adding aliens to the equation would just be too much. People on here can't even see eye to eye on a B-movie scifi film, imagine being in a life threatening situation together? It'd be a stab fest. Fun times.
Crapola on Aug 19, 2010
the poster is great. i'm looking forward to seeing the movie.

I like invasion flicks, whether it be aliens or Chinese (R.I.P. Red Dawn remake). I'm also looking forward to Battle:Los Angeles. I'm glad I'm not so jaded that I hate every TV show and movie that comes along.

There is something about this movie, from what I've read and from the teaser trailer, that is definitely putting it on my radar. Something about the way they are approaching it seems very intriguing, and the final shot of the teaser trailer with the masses being sucked up into the skyline is just brilliant. What's brilliant about it is that at first all you see is (as Fox said) a swarm of something, but then as the wave moves closer you start seeing the limbs of PEOPLE, which really gets across how insignificant and helpless we are against these things in a truly horrific way. I think this poster is a good representation of that teaser trailer in that it is a TEASER in every sense of the word. This poster reflects the first moments of that final shot in the trailer, when all you see is a mass, a swarm, something that looks very small and defenseless. If this is just the first in a series of posters that will each get a little closer to what that swarm is, slowly revealing in each poster what is truly going on, then this is brilliant marketing. If not, then it isn't really capturing for someone what this moment in the film is all about, and if you don't know what the movie is about, I can definitely see how it can be confusing to look at. I just hope this brilliant shot isn't the only trick this film has up its sleeve.

#21 - i agree 100% and yea, "battle: los angeles" looks awesome. are you looking forward to "vanishing on 7th street" and " monsters" too? they ALL look great!
beavis on Aug 19, 2010
I'm just throwing this out there. Knowing that you were probably going to be sucked into a giant spaceship to be eaten or something and having just ran over a deer at the side of the road, would you make love to the deer? I know in your head you have said yes. But are too disgusted with yourself to type it. Catch you all later I'm away on holiday for a week so no stupidity til next friday.
Crapola on Aug 19, 2010
Whoever wrote this is a complete idiot and a retard. THE GUYS WHO MADE AVP!!!! One of the worst fucking films ever and your saying you cant wait for this? Comon man.
Joseph on Aug 19, 2010
To be honest, the story for this just doesn't sound original by any means, I mean it's hard to say cause they've only released the teaser. Second, the effects look terrible. I mean it looks like the entire thing was done in After Effects and they got really lazy with the compositing. And to be honest, that cheap look kept me waiting for will farrell to come out and say something witty at the end of the trailer. Not to mention they introduce the story based off of a "warning from Stephen Hawkins," terrible idea. I was getting ready for a comedy, cause that's just the sick, crude humor that I've been accustomed to. Now I have nothing against anybody who wants to see this, if this is what you're into then awesome, I hope ya'll truly enjoy it! But it's going to take a lot in the full length trailer to sell me on this one....and I mean a LOT.
DANtheMAN on Aug 19, 2010
I do laugh when I read people saying "oh it's just like ID4, what's the point?". It's like they are implying that ID4 was THE definitive alien invasion film and that because it was so good and so perfect in every way, the concept should never be visited again. Yes it was big and had a good concept, but the execution was a little shakey and descended into woeful cliche and stupidity after the first enjoyable hour. Sci fi, aliens and invasion are great themes, so I'm more than happy for Hollywood to keep banging these out until they create the perfect film for me.
Payne by name on Aug 19, 2010
hahahaha...Independence Day sucked...have you watched it recently? And also, ID4 was inspired by soooo many other alien invasion films that are better that came before it. This movie is super shoe string... with the budget they have I'm sure there will be shots like what they have in the trailer, but I fairly certain the movie is going to be almost like a "one-location" kind of film, or limited to a few key locations... I'm down for seeing Donald Faison in a sci-fi film. But I think a lot of people are taking the bait set forth from the trailer and hoping to see something truly epic. That's not what this is going to be...I'll put good money this will be a heck of a lot more intimate and small scale then what they are selling.

"oh this sucks, it looks like..., I hate aliens, I would of did it so much better, my life sucks, trollin, trollin..." Shut the f#ck up! Welcome to human nature trolls! We repeat all things that we enjoyed in the past and put modern day spins and technology on it i.e. music, clothes, video games, books, TV shows, fashion, and of course movies etc. etc.. Wow, shocker huh? Dude every movie, same trollin comments..... Here's a shocker, the world will spin, there will be more vampire movies, comic book movies, more remakes, reboots, sequels, prequels, aliens, comedy/romances, video game movies, movies based on books, based on cartoons, etc, etc. In the end after all ur hating, people will still watch them, enjoy them, and they will make money. Enjoy movies for what they are. If you don’t care for it move the f@ck on . I hate Harry Potter but I dont get on the Harry P links and put trollin comments cuz its not my thing. I know, I know, u have the right to voice your comments below.....but u all are a virus, u guys are starting to sound like YouTube comments.

"Don't look up." ?? Yes, the poster looks cool, aside from it looking extremely unoriginal. Tagline is hurtful though. I give this a 40% chance of success.

@Alex I'm not looking foreword to this because the story is unoriginal and AvP 2: Requiem is a horribly shot, scattershot edited, misdirected piece of shit. So yeah, forgive me for not giving the film the benefit of the doubt.

why do people keep comparing this to ID4??? ID4 sucked balls because it was nothing but a high $$$ JOKE!!! this at least is going for something that might be just a little bit SCARY!!!! or at the very least give us a thrill or two...ID4 was the biggest waste of good FX & money I have ever seen.....I will certainly give this one a chance just for the effort they are making...
blasphemer on Aug 21, 2010
The poster is great, and so is the trailer! I saw it on Yahoo. Go check it out. I can't wait for the movie to arrive. Send the aliens now! LOL
