Legend of the Guardians Featurette

Warner Bros has debuted a fascinating little behind-the-scenes featurette (via Moviefone) for Zack Snyder's upcoming animated movie Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole (as it's officially known). We debuted the first full trailer for this back in March and I've got to say it looks quite spectacular, like it's a truly entertaining action/adventure epic about owls. This video features Zack Snyder and his wife/producer Debbie Snyder talking about the project, the different kinds of owls we'll see in it, the story and its origins, and so much more. I'm already sold on this movie, but this has now solidified my interest even more. Enjoy!

Watch the behind-the-scenes featurette for Zack Snyder's Legend of the Guardians:

Legend of the Guardians is directed by Zack Snyder, a former commercials director who has directed Dawn of the Dead, 300, and Watchmen, and is currently working on SuckerPunch. The screenplay was co-written by John Orloff (of "Band of Brothers", A Mighty Heart) & John Collee (of Master and Commander, Happy Feet, Creation). This movie is specifically based on the first three books in Kathryn Lasky's popular series of novels known as the Guardians of Ga'Hoole. Warner Brothers will be bringing Legend of the Guardians to theaters everywhere, in both 2D and 3D, starting on September 24th this year. Planning on seeing this?

I like this. It gives me that Never Ending Story feeling. I hope the story is a little more adult and a little less kiddy.

Am I the only one who thinks this looks really lame? I'm usually the kind of guy who posts positive comments, but COME ON. Anyone here? Cheesy voice acting, predictable story line, set to an "uplifting" rock score. I'll give you that the animation is very pretty. I guess if I'm a twelve year old girl hoping for someone to tell me that my life has purpose if I just look hard enough??? I dunno... Not at all suprised this script was brought to you in part by the people who created Happy Feet. Maybe I just don't like birds??? No offense Alex!

This is my second most anticipated film this year right behind Tron, it looks absolutely gorgeous and I know Snyder wouldn't be at the helm if the story was bad. I can really appreciate the feathers and particle effects like the rain, getting those elements to work so flawlessly is no simple task.

hahaha is it just me or was Snyder sounding a little Disney family friendly?

#13 - Have you heard the reasons behind why Zack Snyder wanted to make this? He has a family, like 5 kids, but he has never been able to show them one of his movies yet. So he wanted to make something for his family. That explains why he sounds "a little Disney family friendly." 🙂

Super lame featurette but I think it was more for parents benefit, who would otherwise think Zack's gonna show owls disemboweling and decapitating each other. Still excited to see it. And I think we can all agree on one thing, I am so dead and tired of all the sappy, idiotic or cynical animation being pumped out by the mainstream houses. This looks different.

The animation looks wonderful. The story is boring. Maybe I just can't get my head around one fact.. How did owls learn to smelt armor face plates?! And don't say they found them because that's ridiculous. Yes i'm okay with the fact that they talk because that's what we do with animals.. make em talk. My gripe is the face plates.

I love the featurette and the trailer and that 30 Seconds to Mars song, but together it just doesn't seem to fit.

I'm sorry, am I missing something here? This looks rubbish. Plus the featurette just made me throw up in my own mouth.

I mean owls were cool in Twin Peaks, but this stuff right here is breaking my balls...and the music on this featurette is horrible! So predicting story, voice acting doesnt sound convincing and when did owls learn to make claws out of steel?

I know what my September is going have in it: at least one trip to see this:) I wasn't on board earlier but this look jaw droppingly gorgeous and something I couldn't fathom - an epic movie involving owls...yes, owls;) Snyder (backed by WB's deeeeep pockets) seems like the right guy for the job. Sounds like a WIN to me!
