Hero Complex Film Festival

Over the last couple of years, the LA Times blog known as Hero Complex has become one of the best places on the internet for industry geek movie & comic book news courtesy of writer Geoff Boucher. Launching this summer is the first ever Hero Complex Film Festival which will highlight three signature filmmakers - Leonard Nimoy, Christopher Nolan, Ridley Scott - and showcase movies from each of them complete with in-person Q&As. The festival runs for three days starting on June 11th to the 13th and will take place at the Mann Chinese 6 theater in Hollwood, CA. Tickets for the event go on sale tomorrow morning right here.

I'm already excited for this and will be buying tickets, so if anyone else is planning on going, then I'll see you there! The festival includes showings of Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (with Nimoy, who is making this one of his final farewell appearances), Insomnia and The Dark Knight (with Nolan and a new sneak peek at Inception), and finally Alien and Blade Runner (with Scott, who will probably talk about/show us something from his Alien prequel). You can buy single day tickets for about $43.50 or buy a three-day pass for $96.20. It's a little costly, but it definitely seems worth it, especially as the inaugural version of this fest.

For more info on the Hero Complex Film Festival, read Boucher's original blog post about it or head to the LATimes.com to buy tickets starting tomorrow morning at 10AM. And if you're planning on attending this, let us know in the comments below, so that I'll know if there are any FS.net readers who will be there, too.

I wonder why Nolan settled on Insomnia...I'd say that even though I enjoy that film, it's his weakest piece of work to date. The Prestige or Memento seem like better choices.

^ It's because it's being released on Blu-Ray. This looks exciting, I hope I can make it.

Does anyone know the actual schedule for this? What times do the movies start? I've got a shoot on Sunday, but am hoping to see the films & Ridley Scott...
