Jennifer Garner in Butter

We've seen quite an impressive cast come together for the satirical comedy Butter, a script that made the '08 Black List, about a young orphan girl who, after being adopted by a Midwestern family, discovers that she has an incredible talent for butter-carving. Young actress Yara Shahidi plays the orphan who finds herself against the ambitious wife (Jennifer Garner) of the retired reigning champion (Ty Burrell) in a town's annual butter-sculpting contest. Entertainment Tonight (via The Playlist) has a sneak peak at the film complete with interviews and a few scenes with Garner, Hugh Jackman, Olivia Wilde and more.

The video here was removed at the studio's request. Sorry guys!

While the logline seems to focus on the young girl, this is an ensemble cast fueled comedy, so everyone has a big chunk of a story. Everyone is also aware that no one has seen the world of butter sculpting on film and that seems to be both a challenge and a point of interest. If you don't recall, the events in the film are meant to parallel the US political arena, specifically the 2008 Iowa Democratic Caucus. This film is soaked in a bit of a cliche representation of the Midwest, but it is satire after all. With a cast including Alicia Silverstone, Rob Corddry and Ashley Greene in a sharp looking comedy, I can't wait to see how this will turn out.

I'm sure this may make for quite an entertaining film... maybe. But this featurette put me to sleep. It did the film no justice whatsoever. And Hugh looks funny without any hair.
