Piranha 3D: For Your Consideration

The Weinstein Company's horror remake Piranha 3D, directed by Alexandre Aja, finally lands in theaters this weekend. As a last bit of crazy promotion for the movie, TWC has whipped up a video called "Piranha 3D: For Your Consideration" that has been unveiled on Funny or Die. Basically they said, well, Piranha 3D is leading all of the other main categories, so why not offer it up for things like Best Penis Being Gobbled and Spit Out in 3D. So this solidifies "why" Piranha 3D is the front-runner and should be considered as a contender with Inception and others. Yea, it's all a big joke (or so I hope?), but it's still pretty funny. Enjoy!

You can also actually watch the real official trailer for Piranha 3D online right here.

A tremor under the surface of Lake Victoria in Arizona unleashes scores of prehistoric piranhas, an event which rallies the local sheriff Julie Forester (Elisabeth Shue), who risks everything to save her townsfolk.

Piranha 3D is directed by French horror filmmaker Alexandre Aja, of High Tension, The Hills Have Eyes (the remake) and Mirrors previously. The film's screenplay was co-written by Alexandre Aja, Josh Stolberg (Good Luck Chuck, Sorority Row), Pete Goldfinger (Sorority Row), and Grégory Levasseur (High Tension, P2, Mirrors). The Weinstein Company will be bringing Piranha 3D to theaters starting on August 20th.

God, how retarded! I can't believe Aja sold out so hard. I still hope he'd made another movie like Haute Tension but it's highly doubtful.

I knew the Weinsteins might market the hell out of an Oscar bait type film like they have done in the past (Pulp Fiction, The English Patient, Shakespeare in Love, Inglourious Basterds), but I never expected this.

That was great. I love the two categories for best Underwater Cave.

Haute Tension btw, was terrible and trashy with a twist that ruined the entire film. This on the other hand looks awesome and unpretentious.

i like the fact that they're being good sports about their movie.

@5 isnt inglourious basterds part of universal studios???

pulp fiction212 on Aug 18, 2010

God yes I'm a member I will write this movie in for all categories!!

LINKFX on Aug 18, 2010

its one thing to be a good sport about how bad your movie is, its another thing to pour more money on the fire when theyre likely to get little to no return on that extra money, there are enough people out for stupid laughs though they might make their money back

nominate inception 10 times?....................... yeah sure why not! đŸ˜›

@6 It was a joint project. Let's not forget that Harvey Weinstein was one of the names behind Inglourious Basterds.

Adam Scott grew his beard to hide his fucking tiny mouth. LOL!
