Fourth Installment of 'Mission Impossible' Franchise Gets Title
by Ethan Anderton
October 28, 2010
Though we've known for awhile now that the newest forthcoming installment in the Mission Impossible franchise starring Tom Cruise wouldn't simply be called Mission Impossible 4, no clues as to the official title had been given. Luckily, a press conference in Dubai (via Yahoo!) finally revealed the new title for the anticipated sequel. Cruise revealed the title as Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. Unfortunately, that was pretty much the extent of the revelations with no hints at a story. However, it was revealed that cast & crew would be shooting at Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest tower standing at 2,717 feet. Read on!
Though it's hard to get really excited about the sequel without a story, the cast is already quite an eclectic group of talent for the spy action sequel. The new IMF team led by Cruise also features franchise stars Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg while new team members include Jeremy Renner, Paula Patton and Vladimir Mashkov. Apparently the team of agents will be dealing with Michael Nyqvist, Anil Kapoor and Lea Sedoux as several villains in the story. Though my interest in the franchise is already quite high considering this is Brad Bird's live-action directorial debut, hearing some story details couldn't hurt. We'll keep you posted as more information becomes available.

Might be excited if this was something new. The franchise is old and tired. bleh.

I'll be happy if there are no rogue agents in this one.

At least has the M:I name and sounds better than the earlier title "The Mission", which just sounded stupid (not to mention is also an actual 80s film).

M:I3 was sorely underrated. Such a shame it had to be released when Tom Cruise went nutso.

@notalent - I agree M:I 3 was very underrated. I'm pretty excited for 4. Brad Bird has done a lot of great animated stuff and I hope he can translate that into a great film here.

I'm sure I'll like this film. I loved #1 and #3. But what a dumb title.

Sounds like the title of an episode. I don't mind it. Maybe the film is more of a throwback to the original show.

I actually enjoy these films. They never exactly hit it 100% right though. Something is always a little off or WAY off that makes them fell not as spectacular as they could/should be.

I'm looking forward to it,. MI3 is a personal favourite and the combination of Brad Bird, JJ Abrams and a stellar cast (Anil Kapoor & Josh Hollywoay FTW!) will make this a must see for me!
