Glee's Chris Colfer Developing 'Struck by Lightning' Indie Project

December 7, 2010

Chris Colfer

Earlier today, we saw Glee star Dianna Agron making a giant leap to the big screen in the latest trailer for I Am Number Four. Fellow Glee star Lea Michele has yet to land a major role besides in New Year's Eve, but their openly gay co-star Chris Colfer has setup an interesting project. Variety reports that Colfer wrote the script for and is set to star in a new project called Struck by Lightning, which producer David Permut is developing; he's currently looking for a director and a cast before getting financing. Struck by Lightning is a coming-of-age comedy that Permut says, "captures the spirit of movies penned by the late John Hughes."

We don't know anything else about the Struck by Lightning script, but Colfer is planning to shoot it during the Glee hiatus next summer, so expect to see it at Sundance 2012. Yes, I will admit that I watch Glee, I'm a fan, and I think more than anything the talent on there is the best part. I'm always happy to see some of the young actors from the ensemble cast given a chance to break out beyond TV, which is why I'm reporting on this. Colfer, along with Lea Michele, are two of the most talented people on Glee and I'm looking forward to seeing their careers' blossom. We'll be sure to keep you updated on Lightning, which has a long ways to go.

Don't be embarrassed Alex I watch Glee to. Colfer has some good comedic timing...I'll have to keep my eye open for this.

Cory has singed a deal for a movie, Lea is making two movies and Dianna is in I am 4, so yes great news for Chris but the others are trying to squeeze in things too. I bet a good deal of the reason why some have not done more is the schedule, they don't have time to do to much with glee and the glee tours. Ihope the best for him and I do thing Lea has alot of potenil aot do some great work. Hopefully she willfind her way back to Broadway again too.
