Imogen Poots Cast as Female Lead in the Fright Night Remake
by Alex Billington
June 19, 2010
Another pretty face getting her breakout Hollywood role. British actress Imogen Poots (seen in 28 Weeks Later, Cracks, Solitary Man, Centurion) has been officially cast (confirmed via Heat Vision) as the female lead in DreamWorks' remake of the 1985 vampire comedy Fright Night. Poots joins Anton Yelchin, Colin Farrell, Toni Collette, David Tennant and Christopher Mintz-Plasse. The movie centers on a teen (Yelchin) convinced that his new neighbor is a vampire. Michael De Luca and Alison R. Rosenzweig are producing, Craig Gillespie (Lars and the Real Girl) is directing, and shooting starts this summer down in New Mexico.
This casting was actually first revealed at Bloody-Disgusting a few days ago, where they say that Poots plays a character named Amy, popular high school senior who "needs to get nasty" by the finale (I assume they mean the "climax" of the movie, pun intended). Essentially, she plays Yelchin's girlfriend, who is "part of the popular crowd and unaware of his earlier life as a nerd." Sounds like a fun role. This remake is shaping up quite nicely with an impressive cast at least and the potentially to be quite entertaining. I actually really like Poots and I hope this gives her a chance to get some good recognition in front of US audiences. Stay tuned!

She really showed her talent in 28 Weeks Later, there is a scene in 28WL when Andy tells her their Dad is infected and the facial expression she made was perfect, the expression really conveyed the emotion of losing a father to a virus, that infects the person with Rage. so yeah this is great casting, this is one remake seems to be doing everything right.

She really was great in 28 Weeks Later. I went home after seeing that movie and immediately looked her up on IMDB. Good for her.

SOOOOOOO Excited. She is fucking amazing. There was this scene from 28 Weeks Later and her blue eyes just starred into my soul. I was waiting to hear more from this amazing actress. Also don't like a creeper if you think she is fucking hot, she is 20 years old.

She is so beautiful. I didn't realize it in 28 weeks later but WOW. Great potential, as long as she doesn't turn out like Kiera Knightly. Ever notice how in every movie she's ridin someones dick?

lol. I mean her characters all seem like whores in some sense to me. Look at her film history. She's not a bad actress... im just sayin. But i like a woman who is comfortable with her sexuality so... lol.

So Atonement was a whorish role? c'mon Eli that's a bold claim...you're better than that.

@14 said they really like Poots. Too funny! If immature people like me can stop making fun of her name she might have a promising career. But seriously, she is very pretty. I have not seen her in anything, but I would give her a chance.

After hearing about this I was pissed, but now after seeing the complete cast we might have a winner. I hope the writers don't fuck up. Just saw the original two weekends, again, and I still dug it. Granted its full of the 80s, I mean all over it, but it was fun. My 10 year son loved it.
