Impossible Choice: Patton, German, Kreuk all MI4 Candidates

I'm not normally one to post about casting news that isn't finalized, but this is a good story about three very beautiful actresses fighting for one role. Paramount is trying to get things moving on Mission: Impossible IV (which won't even be called that) and with Jeremy Renner as the male lead, their focus has shifted to finding a female lead. Yesterday, Deadline (via SlashFilm) named Lauren German (Hostel: Part II, Dark Country), Paula Patton (Deja Vu, Swing Vote, Precious) and Kristin Kreuk (Euro Trip, Street Fighter, "Smallville") as at least three of the actresses who are testing for the role. Quite a wonderful line-up, right?
We don't know much about the story or the characters that will be in it, except that this role is for "a young female operative." Other than that, we know Tom Cruise will be back but may not be playing Ethan Hunt for too long. Renner is also in a lead role and both Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg will be reprising their roles for M:I3. Shooting is expected to begin this fall in Vancouver, Prague, Dubai and the US. The latest draft of the script was written by Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec (both of shows like "Happy Town" and "Life of Mars"). Paramount has already set a late December 16th, 2011 release date for Mission: Impossible IV.
SlashFilm's Russ hopes that Paula Patton lands the role, but I'm fine with any of them. We'll let you know who they decide to go with or if someone else ends up getting it instead of these three. Who do you want?

It'd be fun to sit here and try and choose who, but I don't really care about this project if Cruise is gonna be a no show. He's the face... of MI.

I would love to see Paula Patton for this role, Kreuk is easy on the eye but I really don't think she has screen presence.

Jeremy Renner as the male lead? So Ethan Hunt via Tom Cruise won't be the main character in this one? Interesting ... too old? Passing the baton? They didn't quite do that in last Indiana Jones, Harrison Ford was still number 1.

Well, Lauren German shows in HOSTEL II she can kick some ass...and more 🙂 Kreuk is too adorable for spy genre, Patton seems to me has graduated from modeling to ...more modeling. That's all paramount has?

Kristin Kreuk, only because I want to see her do more stuff and I dont think her work on Smallville or Street Fighter was a reflection of how good she is as an actress. Realistically? They'll give it to Patton or I could see them picking a fourth choice kind of like how they did in picking Renner for the other male sidekick

All those years on Smallville can't erase the crapfest that was "Street Fighter: The Lameness of Chun Li." This will be a chance for her to redeem herself. Patton has looks and can act. Sorry, but if Alex hadn't have mentioned Hostel II, I wouldn't even have recognized German. That picture of her isn't too flattering either, I think they're trying to trip her up.

THIS MOVIE WILL SUCK. Too many reasons to list. Stand up to Hollywood. Make them do more than re-microwave warm poop. It's our nine dollars. Have a voice and make Paramount Pictures and other major studios stop making movies for a profit and start making movies for "TRUE" entertainment. True values. Classics.
