Must Watch: Full-Length Trailer for Zack Snyder's Sucker Punch
"If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything." Just after this year's Comic-Con, you were given a shorter, teaser-size look at the footage for Zack Snyder's Sucker Punch that was on display for audiences in Hall H at the San Diego Convention Center. Needless to say, the action looked spectacularly epic with plenty of beautiful ladies firing machine guns and fighting samurai, robots and dragons. Though there was plenty of eye candy to marvel at the first time around, a brand new full-length trailer has just debuted which finally gives us a better idea of what kind of epic story Snyder is sending our way on top of amazing action.
Watch the second official trailer for Zack Snyder's Sucker Punch:
You can also watch the new Sucker Punch trailer in High Definition on Apple
Sucker Punch is Zack Snyder's first movie not based on previous material, but an original idea that he came up with and turned into a screenplay with co-writer Steve Shibuya. Set in the 1950's, Sucker Punch follows Baby Doll (Emily Browning) who is confined to a mental institution by her stepfather, who intends to have her lobotomized in five days. While there, she imagines an alternative reality to hide her from the pain, and begins planning her escape, needing to steal five objects to help get her out before she is deflowered by a vile man. Warner Brothers is bringing Sucker Punch to theaters on March 25th, 2011 next year. Thoughts?

Every bit of dialogue in that trailer was atrocious. Sigh....

Number 5, Easy target? We are talking about...Zach Snyder here. Erm, can someone tell me just WHAT THE HECK THAT WAS UP ON THAT SCREEN? I think someone needs to say NO more firmly to drugs. HH

It looks.....strange. The old guy had some terrible line delivery

FACT - having fun an sitting back at pure entertainment at the movies is lost on alot of movie fans
nelson on Nov 3, 2010
I'm still in, but that old guy was terrible. Still, girls, dragons, samurai, etc, what's not to love there?
MK24 on Nov 3, 2010
#15, exactly. needless to say, I'll be going to see this.
Colt on Nov 3, 2010
Looks pretty great. But christ, I can NEVER get into these little pretty girls doing all this crazy bombastic shit. This looks like "Sexy Video Game: The Movie" to me. Pure fantasy. Kind of annoying really. Get ready for the girls to have something to talk about. And seriously, for those who say "just sit back and enjoy the mindless entertainment"... How many years will you be saying that to yourself every time you watch a movie, eh? Right. Well at some point you gotta get out of the sandbox.
Cracky on Nov 3, 2010
#18 Shut the fuck up. You act as if people who enjoy movies for mindless fun are forced to only watch those types of movies. I enjoy mindless action as much as the next guy, but it doesn't mean that every single movie I watch has to be of the same genre. You're the type of person that goes around preaching about how immature everyone is, to make up for the fact that you're insecure about yourself, and to hide that you're just some turd that puts himself up on his own pedestal. Cause no one else will.
danielvutran on Nov 3, 2010
#18 - i know what you mean..........however, i DO like the stylish visuals of this trailer. the acting and dialogue?....not that great. i'll probably watch it once off of netflix.

Why does the price of IMAX and 3D keep going up in internet comments? At first it was like $12 or so, now it's almost up to $20. I dunno what prices are like around your parts, but here in real town USA the average movie ticket is about $8.50, 3D screens at a normal theater are like $12. Anyway, I have no problem with fun movies like this. I'll probably see it just to see how the hell they manage to tie that much crazy shit together. If it turns out to be a horribly shite film, then it'll give me a chance to pick it apart and bitch about how stupid it is. If it's good, then it'll be fun to watch. Either way I win. I saw Avatar twice and while I can freely admit that the film has it's issues, it's still a fun watch on occasion. Same with crap like The Rock or Stargate or The Fifth Element (though that movie is of the 'so bad it's good' ilk as far as I'm concerned...) I don't really give a shit if other people like or hate a movie. Different people will like or hate different films. I love introspective character studies as much as the next film nerd, but you can't just sit around watching Taxi Driver and Hana-Bi all the time. Sometimes you gotta pop in something goofy, grab some popcorn and watch shit blow up real good. Transformers 2 is still among the worst films of the decade, tho 😛
Squiggly_P on Nov 3, 2010
Geezus christ on a pogo stick! Where did all these 9 year olds come from? Scott Glenn has been in The Right Stuff, The Hunt For Red October, Silence of the Lambs, Backdraft and about 100 other movies and he is referred to repeatedly in these comments as 'that old guy'. What does he have to do to impress you little dimwits? Appear in a Justin Bieber video?
Leroy Skibone on Nov 3, 2010
When Scott Glenn was talking I kept wondering if he was suppose to be Yoda or something. I didn't really like how he delivered his lines. However this is the first trailer, we'll see how I feel after the second one, or something.
M on Nov 3, 2010
i have to say that that wasnt as good as i expected it to be. one of the only things that i liked about it other that the fact that it is filled with hot women is that they used led zeppelins song.
Nick on Nov 3, 2010
Ethan, you can stop with the hyperbole in your posts anytime. Save descriptors like "incredible" and "amazing" for times when they might be more applicable. This looks like a possibly entertaining film from Snyder, but there's no actual new ground being broken. Let's get a grip, shall we?
GrenadeDodger on Nov 3, 2010
lmao this looks so stupid, a movie for rebelious teenage girls at best.
dylan on Nov 3, 2010
This looks like garbage. Looks like it's going to be another The Spirit.
Andrew K on Nov 3, 2010
Snyder is my Tarantino...
dreckent on Nov 3, 2010
Scott Glen is a great actor but unfortunately, poor performances or line delivery are the fault of the director. And let's face it even the greatest actors sometimes have to take jobs just to pay the bills. As far as the visuals are concerned in this trailer? In my humble opinion, these over processed visual extravaganzas are becoming a bit tiresome. Even if it is supposed to be taking place in the girl's head. I find it difficult to believe that anyone would imagine everything in such an over processed bluish monochromatic tint. Let's get back to good old fashioned in camera cinematography. Where when a cinematographer wins an award for cinematography that wasn't touched up in post with a heavy handed digital intermediate.
Shadowman25 on Nov 3, 2010
he just needs to trim the slow-mo.his past movies had incredible trailers, but the movies themselves were mediocre at best.
twipious on Nov 3, 2010
eeehhh i cant connect with it, not even the cool action sequences that I've always wanted to see in live action movies. -_______- bummer bro. yeah bro.

Lois on Nov 3, 2010
... I'm sorry, what? Something about Alice in Wonderland with guns and a dragon? No thanks. #24, yeah. I'm amazed how many of these people don't seem to know who Scott Glenn is.. But at the same time, his delivery doesn't match up well with what is going on on screen.
Mark on Nov 3, 2010
@23 It's called "cost of living". Out here a gallon of milk is 6 bucks, and all those cute commercials for $1 burgers and tacos at BK/McD/Taco Bell... $1.50 here, which is actually a reasonable markup compared to the $2.99 I was charged at Arby's for that 99-cent BBQ Jr Roast Beef a few years ago. My argument (and those of the intelligent movie goers) is that relative cost of tickets has gone up TOO MUCH each year. It's $11 for a regular ticket, $6.50 for a large soda, $5 for IMAX, and $4 for 3D. We just got a digital (FAKE) IMAX screen in March of 09, where it was $9.50 for the ticket, $5.75 for the soda, $4 for IMAX, and $3 for 3D. A good $1 for each item. Prior to that 3D was a steady $2.50 and there was no IMAX, but the ticket and soda has gone up about $.75 to $1 annually. So yes a $12 3D movie about 3 years ago is now a legitimate $20. It's not our fault companies put $200 into a blockbuster movie (only to make 3/4 of a Billion Dollars), so that we have to pay $11 bucks for every movie out there. Jackass 3D was $15 bucks, and that movie only cost $20 million to make. What I'd like to see is Hollywood take responsiblity and start charging on a scale similar to video games. Where as major/AAA titles cost $60 (US), medium and independent games are priced $40-50, and easily make up the price difference in higher sales (especially without the brand recognition)
Akirakorn on Nov 3, 2010
wow a lot of people hatin on this movie....i like it i just can't seam how so many people can not like this but like drive angry....weeeeiiiiirrrrrddddd o well snyder does have this thing with makin really good trailers but only ok movies.... and 8.50 for a movie in real america town or whatever?? damn that sounds nice....its ten bucks here

Loved Watchmen thought that one was almost perfect in it`s genre. This trailer does not look as good as the teaser and I am wondering what the hell Scott Glen is doing, he just felt wrong in the trailer but hopefully it`s the trailer, I always liked him. I will check this out, who hasn`t seen a really good/cool trailer just to get pissed of when you saw the movie and thought what a load of crap it was and vice versa.

It's "Suicide Girls" meets "The Power Puff Girls"...rent it when it comes out on RedBox & grab a 12 pack of beer, bring your girlfriend over and maybe get a blowjob?
GeoRod 321 on Nov 4, 2010
This movie is going to be horrible. I doubt kids will even be into this.
Shart on Nov 4, 2010
Snyder definitely took a page out of Kazuaki Kiriya directing book but! unlike Kiriya work, this looks fun and dumb while his movies are artistic, Oscar worthy masterpieces i mean come on! Goemon? Cashern? Taboo? all GODLY films in style, story. well i guess im to quick to judge, HOPEFULLY this movie ends up as good as his.
DoomCanoe on Nov 4, 2010
Ethan, you're absolutely right. I'll exercise that freedom immediately. I find it AMAZING that a copy-paste artist like yourself taking scoops and links from other sites instead of breaking actual news has such INCREDIBLE insecurity.
GrenadeDodger on Nov 4, 2010
I liked how the story sounded, up to the point when Scott Glen started talking, then it sounded like a video game.
Mr.Cookie on Nov 4, 2010
Doing his best David Caradine impression.
Terrible on Nov 4, 2010
Couldn't Snyder's talents be best used on something else? So not interested in girl power flicks...
RPD on Nov 4, 2010
Jesus Christ. It's only here where you'll find people actually hating on something that actually looks pretty good. Then again, all you really need is Zack Snyder's name attached to anything and people will start bitching. I'm all for intellectual stimulating films, but sometimes if a film only wants to be that "badass genre film," then I don't see anything wrong with it.
SkaOreo on Nov 4, 2010
Screw the haters, this is gonna be the best movie of 2011! Love it already thank you for posting this!

I F'in Love Zach!!! No one can put together a trailer like he can. This looks insanely awesome! Can't wait! Should be a fun ride!!!
KB on Nov 4, 2010
I talk about it on my blog here but mainly I love the trailer. It's full of awesome visuals and hot chicks kicking ass. And I'm in love with Jena Malone. But I have to agree the old guy is kinda bad and his whole speech about the quest makes it come off as very cliche. But I still am looking very forward to it.
Chris on Nov 4, 2010
To all the haters: I'm sure I'll see your sorry asses in line on opening day. If everything sucks so bad, try creating something yourself... NERDS!!!!
Bill Paxton on Nov 4, 2010
I love Zack Snyder's work and style that he brings to films but this one just doesn't do it for me. Also the fact that all of the girls look like preteens dressed like hardcore sluts kind of bothers me. People want to yell and complain about creepy men abducting their daughters...then try to do something about the suggestive material in films and also don't let your preteen daughters dress like hookers 😉 I know I am preaching but I just woke up and am a cranky butt. I will pass on this film but I am excited about Superman so that should be interesting to watch when it is done.
Maxx on Nov 4, 2010
Even though I've been watching movies for decades, I must be missing something. I thought the trailer was great. The music, the editing, Carla Gugino, Scott Glenn. Loving me some babes fighting dragons! But so many here think it sucked....oh, well. Must have lost my mind somewhere along the way.. Someone should make a movie called "Samurai Preteen Sluts", however.
kitano0 on Nov 4, 2010
#47, what is your problem? O..O
Kenny on Nov 4, 2010
I thought the trailer was pretty damn good and I'm definitely going to be seeing this movie. Also, I agree with #15. There's something to be said about going to a movie theater, sitting back and just having fun. Not every movie needs to be some transcendent piece of art to be a good movie. Sometimes some good action and visuals are exactly what the doctor ordered. Did the dialogue sound kind of cheesy? Absolutely. But this looks like the kind of stylized action that Snyder is becoming known for in his movies and that makes for one entertaining flick.
Blake on Nov 4, 2010
@Ethan Anderton, how low can you go? and +1 to comment number 46. Like a page ripped from a library's book. And I am so glad now that Emma Stone dropped this, story is kind of stupid.
urgh on Nov 4, 2010
Kamish on Nov 4, 2010
why do people insist that every movie released MUST be an artistic masterpiece? why can't a movie just be fun? on that note, this movie looks like a whole barrel full of the latter.
Dan on Nov 4, 2010
What the hell is this movie about?
CT on Nov 4, 2010
The artsy assholes get to throw grenades and the fun-loving Bay movie fans get to defend themselves and this film. Its a good day to be part of this shit. I will say that I do not like female action stars. Let alone 8 or 9 of them with swords and guns. This is why I don't think much of this. Respectfully, this trailer is gorgeous but I think it's just a big sexy Spice World 2. Replace the little girls with some cult favorite actors. Quentin Tarantino's The Expendables. That is all. Didn't mean to offend ya, #19.
Cracky on Nov 4, 2010
So where is this all hot-girl mental asylum located??? .. Dragons, Samurais, robots, & hot bitches?? looks alright.. not crazy about it though..

Supergroove on Nov 4, 2010
Okay, so the action and cinematography look great and everything but man o' man did that dialouge just ruin the whole trailer!! Every word that guy said just sounded awful, that role definitely needed better casting....more along the lines of Liam Neeson or Gary Oldman.
C.murder on Nov 4, 2010
DUDE THIS LOOKS AWESOME, AND I'M AN ELITIST BASTERD WHO HATES EVERYTHING!!! Hahahaha I can't wait for this bug nuts crazy fucking movie! Those visuals were astounding even if Scott Glenn came off a little woodeny...If only David Carradine were still around, he'd be perfect for that role....or O__O, Bruce Lee!!!
LINKFX on Nov 4, 2010
@ Dan, I believe every movie should strive to be an artistic masterpiece, that being said, this looks like an artistic popcorn masterpiece, even if the story seems incoherent at this point in the marketing campaign.
LINKFX on Nov 4, 2010
Thought I would like the trailer but I was rather uninterested, hopefully another trailer will spark my interest again.
carlos on Nov 4, 2010
Looks like the result of Michael Bay raping Tim Burton. Well, at least Hot Topic will make some big bucks when all the scene kids run over the store to buy shirts with the characters (and the robot with the bunny face in particular) on them.
SuicidalOptimist on Nov 4, 2010
looks terrible, wont waste money on that.
Stew on Nov 4, 2010
I guess I'm turning into an old fart. This just looks boring to me. Hot chicks with swords and guns and planes. Once upon a time, maybe, but not now. Of course, Zack Snyder isn't exactly my guy. I thought Watchmen sucked, except for the visuals - it looked awesome - but I need acting and story, which that movie didn't have. I didn't really like Miller's 300 comic, so I never saw the movie. I'll probably end up seeing this (and 300) at some point, but I'm just not interested now.
Ian Carruthers on Nov 4, 2010
I knew the lead actress looked familiar - After checking on IMDB I see that she was in "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events". And in an odd way this does almost look like a sequel to that film. 🙂
Lars on Nov 4, 2010
#71 is right. That WILL happen. Is there a point to this movie? Besides wasting millions of dollars to disappoint people in theaters...
gmorra on Nov 4, 2010
I'll totally watch it, I like this style of film, I'm not so bothered about the story, if it had one that would be a bonus though. Looks live a live action manga, so that's a plus for me.

scott glenn doesn't look as bad as people are makin him out to be......he was awesome in backdraft and the real problem is emily browning looks god awful seriously you over look her acting for her school girl outfit......this reminds me of plenty of animes with hot girls girls who kick ass but they don't look badass......she looks way to kiddish to pull it off....visuals are crazy badass but it seriously has way to much shit going on at once which may or may not happen during the actual movie.......lol you'll be like wait wtf why is she fighting zombies while taking out a giant samurai who has a gatling gun.....watchmen is by far one of the worst movies i've ever seen but i don't think it's snyders fault so i'll check this out when it's free on the interwebs cause i'm a cheap ass damn skippy

josssss on Nov 4, 2010
Fantastic graphics, eye candy and action, but again Synder's inability to produce good dialogue and characters that you can connect with (ala. George Lucas) will doom this movie. I just hope Synder gets replaced for the Superman movie before they go any further in that production.

"Alice in Wonderland with machine guns"? Spare me. I love movies with lead heroines as much as anyone, but this looks like one big celluloid migraine. The trailer was pretty weak, and that's after watching it with the sound off (had iTunes on at the time). Guess the filmmakers didn't get the hint that totally drowning your movie in CGI sauce is a major turnoff. (Just ask the folks behind the '08 bomb that was Speed Racer.) Lastly, it's also a red flag when the city AND state appear on a sign outside a mental facility ("Brattleboro, Vermont" at 0:30) for some unknown reason. When does that ever happen?

I liked the original little trailer better; the music fit more. The way they cut this one together, it looks like an interesting story, but the music is what really froze my blood in the first one. By the way, this lead character -who played in Lemony Snickets as the teenage girl- is entirely too lovely and sexy for words.

i liked this movie, when it was first a japanese anime. I'm being sarcastic. I love this movie, but it really is a rip off of Japanese anime. I dont understand why the studios refuse to import anime, but a american director/writer somes up with sucker punch and they are all on it???

Nope, this looks like a highly stylized (good) yet ridiculous (bad) implausible action flick for chicks. Seriously, what's the draw for a guy to see a bunch of cute size 4's with names like "Baby Doll" trying to wield guns that are bigger than them without it being an "adult" film ?! This has disappointment written all over it which undoubtedly is why it's showing in March instead of during blockbuster Summer.
