Indie Teaser Sunday: New Promo for Nazi Sci-Fi Film 'Iron Sky'

In 1945 The Nazis Went To The Moon. In 2018 They Are Coming Back. Yes, that is the actual tagline for this crazy new sci-fi film from Finland, of all places, called Iron Sky. You've probably heard about it before, as we wrote a story last year reporting that it had received enough funding to start shooting. This isn't really an indie trailer more than it is an awesome, unique, fun foreign teaser trailer, but that's exactly why I wanted to feature it today anyway. This early promo comes from Quiet Earth and although the video alludes otherwise, they assure us that all of this is real footage that will appear in the movie in the end. Can't wait to see this.
Watch the promo teaser trailer for Timo Vuorensola's Iron Sky from YouTube:
The Nazis set up a secret base on the Moon in 1945 where they hide and plan a return to power in 2018.
Iron Sky is directed by Finnish filmmaker Timo Vuorensola, of only Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning, and who is also the lead singer in Finnish black metal band Älymystö. The screenplay for this was written by Johanna Sinisalo and is based on a story by Antti Hukkanen & Jarmo Puskala. This is apparently shooting in Finland as we speak, so expect to hear a bit more later in the year. This doesn't have a US distributor yet, but we'll be following it closely, so we'll let you know when it picks up one! Anyone else kind of excited to watch?

The last part with all the ships coming toward earth was fracking awesome. A full scale invasion similar to independence day but with Nazis...can't wait.

I am speechless. Something about this feels off, like they turned a music video for Muse into a full length feature.

lol who remembers seeing the preview for Jews in space at the end of History of the world Part I by Mel Brooks. This reminds me of that. However Hitler on Ice was too funny to watch as well.

Haha, great that you cover a trailer about this. Its pretty pop in Finland 🙂 The first movie which they made (Star Wreck) was just a homage-to-star-trek-etc-and-do-it-yourself-with-friends-movie and they put it for free on the net and its been downloaded from their website ~9million times... I'm sure it wont be amazing, but its always nice to see movies from Finland, made in English.. The story sounds pretty crazy(!), but also pretty funny and interesting. I respect Finnish indie film makers, so i'm definitely going to see this in the theaters when it premiers, and you should too! (Well, if you can call 5mill€-budget movie an indie film.. Because its one of the "biggest" budgets in Finnish cinema 😀 Premiere in January 2011 by the way at least in Finland...).

"Shall we get some coffee?" "Well we could, but the cafeteria is in swastika base arm #2." "But I can see it so clearly from the windowwww!" "Sorry, you'll have to go back to the hub and work your way around like everybody else." I know space nazis shouldn't be nitpicked, but a swastika base would be ****ing horrible.

These are the same guys who made that independent satire "Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning" or something similar. It's the funniest (ok, the _only_) crossover film between Star Trek and Babylon 5 that I've ever seen. Of course, we're missing a lot of jokes since they're finnish-based puns, but still it's a fun film. I'm guessing this film will be less of a parody and more of an action / "B-movie" flick.

I can't freaking wait. This looks so bizarrely different from any of the same old Hollywood crap. Will it be "District 9" big? Probably not, but I'm looking forward to seeing it. @ #27 dRailer, when I saw the shape of the base, I thought something very similar "That would be like trying to navigate Philadelphia International"(or whatever its called, I wasn't there long). Just a nightmare of being so close but so distant from where you want to be.

1. Drop that operatic train wreck of sound at the end of the trailer 2. Release this in as many theaters as possible 3. Profit

maybe this won't be the best movie ever but it looks interesting and something to watch as long as its action oriented, not love or comedy within what should be an action movie (i.e. "Stealth" and "Inglorious Bastards" respectively). Another great thing about this movie is that it's fresh...it's a new idea and not a remake or very similar to any other story...as far as i kno nazis in space is a pretty fresh idea

#27: They might have tunnels on the underground, they'd probably just want the surface structure to remain more "symbolic". #43: But maybe this was their plan all along..

Yeah, anything about this trailer that would insist the Nazis are going to get their ass kicked. All I see is a bunch of guys with better technology coming to the world's ass. Maybe its just me, also the "send us your money" thing, perhaps a mistake in translation. If not, then piss off, were not a charity organization, Finland.

Whats really interesting is there has been some talk in conspiracy circles that since it was Nazi scientists that built the means to actually go to the moon thanks to the V2 rocket technology, when man first went to the moon, it was to find some strange artifacts. Most moon landings appear to be on April 20th, which is Hitlers B-day and 420 for all you stoners out there. 😛 If any of you did a little digging you might find some interesting facts regarding all this, even if you don't buy in to most of it.

#48 Damn straight. If I am sending my hard earned to Finland to help finance this oscure Indie flick then I want a featured role in return. But they are not going to do this in Finland are they? Won't they be doing this in Australia? Yes, Australia. Not Austria.

Gee, let me see, Sam Worthington as the Nazi Space General or something. For God's sake.
