Indie Trailer Sunday: Crazy, Weird Genetics Sci-Fi Movie 'JIM'

I just stumbled across this trailer last night on Apple and it is so frickin' weird and entirely crazy in every sense (and every scene) that I just had to feature it as today's indie trailer. The film is titled JIM, directed by Jeremy Morris-Burke, and has kind of an elaborate, expansive plot that I can't really explain… But I can tell you it's a sci-fi flick with some genetic research elements and other wacky things. One of the storylines (the other being set in the future) is about a guy who decides to go to a bio-tech firm with his dead wife's eggs to try and create an heir. And that's just the start. Let the trailer build, it goes to some very odd places.
Watch the official trailer for Jeremy Morris-Burke's JIM:
Trapped in the midst of a lonely, unraveling life, Jim is forced to make important decisions under extreme duress. Being only human, he needs to be sure his life means something and decides to spend everything on securing his legacy at Lorigen, a company offering social and economic security via genetic enhancement.
JIM was both written and directed by first-time feature filmmaker Jeremy Morris-Burke, an NYU graduate and former theatrical lightning designer who also did his own cinematography and editing on the film. This never played at any film festivals, but JIM will be hitting very limited theaters thanks to Area23a starting on October 8th. It didn't look bad for a first time feature filmmaker but it did look a little cheap.

# 16 Exactly. The first half actually looked promising, but the second was just bizarre and cheap.

This could have looked alot better with a "film-filter" in common editing programs/suites like Adobe after effects. But, even with the "low" quality we see in the trailer, it could be a good film. Maybe a remake/reshoot will come in 2 years time? 🙂

I think it looks pretty promising. Especially from a first time film-maker and recent college grad. Seriously, what did you do in your senior year of college?

Huh? Like #16 said, looks like two movies rolled into one trailer. The second half didn't make any sense at all. No coherency in the editing of this, unfortunately.

Humourous then frightening, those are the emotions that I felt while watching this. Definitely intrigueing and I am going to have to keep an eye out for it now.

Fast forwarded most of it just to see what happens. Slow student type B film. A for effort anyhow... Better stuff to check out on Netflix on a quiet night.
