Indie Trailer Sunday: Ryan Piers Williams Film The Dry Land

As today is the 4th of July, we've got a fairly patriotic trailer to feature. The Dry Land is an indie drama written and directed by America Ferrera's boyfriend Ryan Piers Williams. It stars America Ferrera and Wilmer Valderrama and also features appearances by Ethan Suplee, Melissa Leo and Jason Ritter. The lead actor in the film is an up-and-coming actor named Ryan O'Nan and he looks like he gives an incredible performance. I personally think we've seen way too many of these "life isn't the same when you return home from war" films, but this doesn't look too bad, so I'll give it a chance. Watch and let us know your thoughts?

A soldier returning home from war struggles to reconcile his experience abroad with the life he left behind.
The Dry Land is both written and directed by Texas-born first-time filmmaker Ryan Piers Williams, of only a short film previously called Muertas. However, Williams previously worked as a post-production assistant on Steven Soderbergh films like Ocean's Twelve & Thirteen and The Good German and just so happens to be America Ferrera's boyfriend. This first premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and is being distributed by Maya Releasing. The Dry Land arrives in limited theaters starting July 30th this summer. Interested?

I personally think we've seen way too many of these "life isn't the same when you return home from war" films, but this doesn't look too bad, so I'll give it a chance. Why is it you fuck up your reviews with stupid statements like this? Do a little research on people coming back from wars. Do a little research on PTSD. Think these films might help someone? Being that your website exists based on the work of others, i think you might want to show a little respect and let the trailers speak for themselves. Your position on despicable comes to mind as does your opinion of "Airbender". Beware of becoming a joke... although you appear to be on your way based on other sites opinions of your "work".

_"Paramount has debuted the final full-length trailer for M. Night Shyamalan's The Last Airbender today on Apple. Noah Ringer stars as Aang and he's joined by Dev Patel, Jackson Rathbone, Nicola Peltz, Shaun Toub, and many others. This is such an epic and unbelievably awesome trailer. I can't frickin' wait to see this now! The effects look fantastic and the story looks great, too. It looks like that 3D announcement yesterday was just in time, as they also snuck in a big "in 3D" bit of text at the end. I'd still like to see this in 2D first. Even if you've never heard of the TV series before, you'll probably love this trailer, so definitely check it out!" Really?

This looks excellent to me! I first saw Ryan O'Nan on The Unusuals and was very impressed. I am already distraught, after watching this trailer, thinking about what our soldiers may endure once they get home. I suspect it may be hard to watch, but have a feeling we will see the truth rather than just hearing the reports on the news. Am of course used to America Ferrera as Ugly Betty, but looks like she can handle this drama with just as much expertise. Thanks for the preview! Mrs. Lael Blocker Arcadia, CA
