Indie Trailer Sunday: Trippiest Trailer Ever - Machotaildrop

What the f**k is this?! I hate to use profanity, but this trailer deserves it! My friend Don at Quiet Earth told me to check out the trailer for an indie called Machotaildrop and it's the trippiest, craziest, weirdest thing I've ever seen. I don't really know what's going on, but basically it's about a skateboarder named Walter Rhum who realizes his dream of turning pro and riding for the world's greatest skateboard company called Machotaildrop. I'm surprised Spike Jonze isn't producing this. Anyway, if you want to totally have your mind blown, or melted, then check out this trailer. And don't say I didn't warn you that it would be weird…
Watch the trippy official trailer for Machotaildrop direct from YouTube:
Machotaildrop is co-written and co-directed by first-time filmmakers Corey Adams and Alex Craig. It was shot up in Vancouver, Canada in 2008, but that's all we can seem to find on it, although we know it showed at the Whistler and Toronto Film Festivals. Apparently Corey Adams won a contest on Fuel TV back in 2004 (to make a film on a $100K budget, his was the best one) and was then given a million dollar budget to make a feature film. Machotaildrop is supposedly that film, some six years after winning the contest. I definitely don't think this has a distributor and we're not sure when to expect it in theaters (if at all), so stay tuned.

I don't skateboard, but I am curiously fascinated by the possibilities this film presents. It's like Willy Wonka meets Napoleon Dynamite meets a heavy dose of LSD....with skateboards, of course. Interesting.

Its like a cross between Charlie and the Chocolate factory, and a bucket of shit. Terrible terrible looking movie. Sometimes it should be ok for people to have their filming rights pulled.

this looks real real good. love that they're putting street skating in a movie and not as a cheesy side thing. and why the hell is everyone freaking out about how "weird" it is. quirky at best. just looks like theatrical rich people who happen to like skating, nothing really psychedelic.

Behind the scenes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKrS19D0VLU It's interesting that the film was made for such a small budget, I wish more films were made this way, that didn't have ghosts in them.
