John Woo & Su Chao-Pin's 'Reign of Assassins' Promo Trailer

This looks pretty badass! Twitch has discovered the first (unofficial) promo trailer for an upcoming Chinese martial arts movie called Reign of Assassins that is co-directed by John Woo and Su Chao-Pin starring Michelle Yeoh and Jung Woo-sung (from The Good, The Bad, The Weird as "The Good"). This kind of looks like Salt meets Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, which may sound good to some, but not-so-good to others who are tired of the same ole martial arts movies. However, after watching this, I'm pretty damn excited to see it, maybe just cause I'm a sucker for martial arts films like Crouching Tiger. Anyway, check it out below.
Watch the early promo trailer for John Woo and Su Chao-Pin's Reign of Assassins:
A female assassin falls in love with a man whose father was killed by her gang. Unaware that he also is a trained martial artist, their love blossoms but then tensions arise as the past comes back to haunt them.
Reign of Assassins is directed by Su Chao-Pin, of Better Than Sex and Silk, and co-directed by John Woo of everything from Hard Boiled to Face/Off to Mission: Impossible II to Red Cliff. The script was also written by Chao-Pin and the film is being co-produced by Terence Chang and Woo. As far as we know, this doesn't have a US distributor yet, but is expected to hit theaters in China sometime later this year (September or August), so I'd say expect Reign of Assassins to arrive in the US sometime in 2011. We'll keep you updated!

You said The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. I think you meant The Good, the Bad, and the Weird.

Crouching Tiger's martial arts are not good. It may of seemed really good at the time but in comparison to other martial arts flicks the fighting choreography just isn't there. Great story and script though, with definitely the best acting. This film has some solid looking choreography nice cinematography, too. Michelle Yeoh is a true bad ass.

did anyone else notice they spelled Honor wrong? Honour?

Honour is how you spell it in England. As this is the birth place of the English language, 'honour' is the correct spelling. The American version which is 'honor' is wrong ;o)

With how heavy the music is playing, I feel there should have been more action featured, not the trailer wrap up all intense on her watching him sip tea. John Woo needs to slap the bitch who's editing it. I'm a fan of martial arts movies, I just wasn't really impressed by what was shown.

I'm so tired of wire work. Is tony Jaa the only martial artist who does not use wires?

@17 i agree, but yeah he's the only decent martial artist/actor who doesn't use wires not really looking forward to this one, i don't think the storyline withh be powerful enough to make this one memorable.... owh and honor is how you spell honour in american english 🙂 just like australians spell "colour" like that and americans spell "color" like this. 🙂
