I'm not sure how many people have seen Julie Delpy's indie romantic comedy 2 Days in Paris from 2007, but she's currently working on a sequel to it. To be titled 2 Days In New York instead, actress/director Julie Delpy will be reteaming with Rezo Films to produce the "atypical sequel." She will direct the sequel in Manhattan in October from a script she just completed (as reported via ScreenDaily). Delpy will reprise her role as Marion, a Frenchwoman who now finds herself in New York with her child and a new guy, having broken up with her 2 Days In Paris lover (and the father of her child) who was played by Adam Goldberg.
"It's about the difficulty of relationships but also about the main character's evolution in general. It's a very modern story about the complexities of being a woman and not being completely consumed by your partner," Delpy explains to ScreenDaily. She has not announced who will play her "new guy" in the film yet, but we'll find out soon. Delpy is aiming to have this sequel finished and ready by Cannes 2011, so expect it to premiere there. Other members of the Paris cast, including Delpy's real father Albert, will return to their same roles for the film. This sounds a little bit similar to the Before Sunrise / Before Sunset series which, coincidentally, also starred Delpy. I'll probably be attending Cannes 2011 and will be checking this out then.

Goldberg was the only reason I seen the first one. The movie was okay, if you can deal with the French people.

Funny, you don't like the French, yet you can't even speak proper English..... but I suppose you might say you speak American.

Nice. I really liked the first. Disappointed that Goldberg won't be back though.

How about Ethan Hawke for her new guy? Nah - I am just dreaming because Before Sunrise / Before Sunset is far superior than 2 days in Paris. I wish she would team up with Hawke and Linklater again and make the third part of the Before Sunrise/Sunset story.

2 Days in Paris is a brilliant movie...loved it! it made me laugh so very much. Seen by an European (from the East) living in the US (also in the East), this is quite a gem!! So true, so hilarious: I love the humor there. I can't wait to see the sequel. I can't believe the negative comments I read... how boring these dudes must be, but... oh, well...I think that 2 Days in Paris is better, definitely more hilarious than Before Sunrise/Before Sunset. I hope to see Daniel Bruehl in the sequel!

I agree, brilliant movie. Lyrical, poetic, bittersweet. Loved it. Delpy is hypnotic and very talented. Particularly at the end of the movie when she performs "Waltz.." and does her blues singer imitation. Totally charming. Maybe this is a total girl's movie. But, a thinking girls movie.
