Kevin Smith Shooting His Hockey Movie 'Hit Somebody' Soon?

You may remember hearing about Kevin Smith's upcoming hockey movie Hit Somebody once or twice before, as we've written about it a few times previously. Basically, Smith decided to adapt a Warren Zevon song called "Hit Somebody" into a hockey movie for one of his next features. When knew it was something he was working on coming up, but it sounds like it may be moving a lot quicker than we originally thought. A new video showed up on View Askew recently showing Smith and song writer Mitch Albom going around Joe Luis Arena in Detroit, home of the Red Wings, talking about hockey and shooting this movie up there.
The weird thing is that even though there's 10 minutes of footage, there was never a line in it spoken about shooting Hit Somebody this year. But a lot of websites, including Collider and The Playlist and Pajiba, are reporting this as news that Smith is, I guess, scouting locations (including Joe Luis Arena). He does say that "Hit Somebody makes sense" and that he'll "be spending a lot more time [at the arena] in the next year." I'm hoping that's the case, cause I'd love to see this movie. So if you're not looking forward to Kevin Smith's Cop Out, then it sounds like Hit Somebody may be ready in 2011, if all goes planned. Stay tuned for any updates.

I've always thought that most team sports movies fall into a boring template, but who knows... maybe this movie will be good.

Good luck, Kevin Smith. Get to work RIGHT NOW. I wish you the best. P.S. Cop Out is going to bomb very VERY hard. I'm sorry.

I don't usually comment on other people's responses, but I just had to this time. @#2, you are completely wrong...It is easy to see that this movie will make healthy profits for all involved. True it won't break any records, but I'm sure the budget was modest to say the least. At least a gross of $100 million.

And I never re-post... but I just realized my last comment was misleading... I was talking about "Cop Out" and not this hockey movie in post #3.

Cop Out looks really bad. Zach and Miri was such a disappointment. I hope I'm wrong but...yeesh, the trailer doesn't do it any favors.

#2 Didn't know you were a box office-expert! And btw, learn the deffinition of "bomb". I'm sure Cop out will make its money back and maybe som profit, as have ALL Kevin Smith movies, including Zack And Miri. I have faith in Smith, the trailer wasn't very good but it was Green band, and the movie is rated R, so i'll be waiting for a red band trailer. Plus, the script is very good, so if Tracy Morgan doesn't ruin the movie i'm sure it will be atleast enjoyable.

Im sorry but I dont think Smith is the cinematic genius everyone makes him out to be, all his latest movies have sucked big time and I dont expect anything different from cop out or this.
