Great news to report! Magnet Releasing, the genre arm of Mark Cuban's Magnolia Pictures, has acquired distribution rights to the Norwegian mockumentary called Troll Hunter, or Trolljegeren, written/directed by André Ovredal. We've been following this film ever since we found the first teaser, then it premiered at Fantastic Fest, where Jeremy saw it and loved it. It's damn good to hear that Magnet will be bringing this to theaters. "A thrilling and wildly entertaining film, The Troll Hunter delivers truly fantastic images of giant trolls wreaking havoc on the countryside, with darkly funny adherence to the original Norwegian folklore."
Here are some blurbs from their press release."The Troll Hunter is one hell of a ride, with trolls the size of King Kong," said Magnet SVP Tom Quinn. "André Ovredal has created a one-of-a-kind creature feature that’s sure to entertain and wow audiences all over the world. We're extremely proud to add it to the Magnet slate." I was extremely sad I missed this in Austin, but I'm still excited as hell to see it. "The interest in The Troll Hunter from around the world has been overwhelming," says producer Jacobsen. "But it became clear to us early that Magnolia/Magnet would be a perfect fit both for us and for the film. We are really excited to be working with them." The release will be in 2011, but we'll definitely keep you updated! Watch the trailer:

There is low interest and expectation for this film, in Norway. But that's norwegians for you 🙂
