Mark Ruffalo Teases Another Hulk and Avengers Sequels Too
Back in '03, director Ang Lee introduced us to his version of Hulk with Eric Bana wearing the indestructible and ever-elastic purple shorts. Then Edward Norton got mean and green for director Louis Leterrier in '08's The Incredible Hulk. But with the fast-approaching arrival of a new Bruce Banner in The Avengers from comic book adaptation newcomer Mark Ruffalo, it sounds like the new Hulk will get yet another solo feature sometime after Marvel's superhero ensemble assembles in 2012. The actor recently sat down with Empire and briefly spoke about Marvel's plan to make another Hulk movie and sequels to The Avengers.
We just recently heard from Ruffalo about using motion-capture technology to play the Hulk, but his new comments reveal Marvel seems to keep looking far into the future for their upcoming slate. Here's what Ruffalo had to say about Marvel's plans, and his brief take on The Hulk:
"They set up several pictures over a couple of years and possibly there will be a Hulk movie. There'll probably be a couple more 'Avengers' too, which would be fun. The way I see it, Edward Norton has bequeathed this role to me. I reckon the part is my generation's Hamlet, and there's still some room for interpreting who The Hulk is. Growing up I'd rush home to watch my favorite show, ['The Incredible Hulk']. You had the main character, played by Bill Bixby, and he had this calming quality to him. I watched it again recently, and it was so different from anything on TV at the time. You could really see the character struggling with the human aspect of what was happening."
Ruffalo sounds like the best possible replacement after Norton's somewhat disappointing exclusion from Marvel's universe. This will be quite an undertaking for the actor and by far the largest studio film he's ever done. While I'm not so sure we need another Hulk movie, I suppose it depends on what happens with the character when The Avengers hits theaters in 2012. What do you want to see form a new Hulk movie?

If they do make another Hulk movie I want two things. 1) I want it to be a sequel to Ed Norton's Hulk. (As if that wasn't already gonna happen) 2) They need to do The Leader with Tim Blake Nelson reprising his role as Samuel Sterns. They already made that bed...now they need to lay in it 🙂 But thats all I can thing of for now

Dude, Ruffalo and Norton are totally on the same page when it comes to the character of the Hulk. I think the only thing that will seperate both actors' take on the Hulk is Ruffalo's mo-cap performance.

I'm with #4, I'd love to see a Hulk/Fantastic 4 crossover, where Hulk and Thing go at it! I have to admit though, that fight between Hulk and Abomination in the last one was awesome!

i want him to start having more control in hulk form. instead of hulk and banner being 2 separate identities show that banner has been able to practice keeping his intelligence in hulk form.

"1) I want it to be a sequel to Ed Norton's Hulk." Agreed, it would be cool to see them step in at the end seen when Banner is trying to control the Hulk or coexist as one! Catch up with the comics and go mental with some scenes in Banner’s subconscious and show the struggles of them fighting mentally for control... and go dark! Banner realizes they need each other and they are actually the same, just different sides of the coin. Cap it off with them combining as one, just like in the comics. Or something on those lines...Sorry; it was my fave growing up.

Another day, another Hulk movie with yet another actor .. Does anyone really give a shit anymore? Hell, what's next? A new actor playing Spiderman set in high school with Justin Fuckin' Bieber making a cameo to attract the tweenie girls?

Can we please just focus on one Marvel movie at a time Mark? Let's just see if Avengers, Thor, and Cap. America are even worth a damn before we start talking sequels. Same with Green Lantern, lets see the original first. It just seems so rushed.

i believe Mark will do justice as Hulk in the upcoming "Avengers". His body is firm and bigger than Norton's. Mark is a wrestler and still working out for a leaner figure. Very HULK!
