Matthew Broderick / Tea Leoni

The cast for the long gestating original heist comedy Tower Heist just keeps getting bigger. Ben Stiller, Eddie Murphy, Alan Alda, Gabourey Sidibe and Michael Pena are already on board and Deadline had found out last week that Tea Leoni (Ghost Town) had been thrown into the mix as an FBI agent who sympathizes with the overworked, plotting manager and falls for him. Now Deadline has word that Matthew Broderick has come aboard the film as Chase Fitzhugh, a Wall St. guy who, like the building staff, had his finances cleaned out by the greedy villain played by Alda. Seriously, how many people are going to be in this movie?

In all seriousness though, it will be good to see Broderick back on screen in a big movie like this. He's done some voicework for films like Bee Movie and The Tale of Desperaux, but his appearances in films have been limited to small independent films as of late. Much of Broderick's time acting has been spent on Broadway with musicals like The Producers (which was turned into a feature film) and The Odd Couple (both with Nathan Lane), and his NYC residence makes this gig an easy one to settle into. Since Ratner hasn't exactly had the best luck with straight up action films lately, maybe returning to action comedies can win him some points with audiences. We'll keep you posted if anyone else joins Tower Heist.
