The Santa Clause

Joyeux Noel! Gledelig Jul! Froehliche Weihnachten! Mele Kalikimaka! From all of us at, we want to wish every one our readers a very Merry Christmas and a Happy Holidays! Whether you're with your family or with friends or whether it's snowing or sunny, we hope you have a wonderful weekend. For those that follow the tradition of seeing a movie on Christmas Day, like myself, I hope we've at the least helped you make the right choice. I'm planning on seeing True Grit and/or The King's Speech. Things are a bit slower than normal this year during the holidays, but we'll be back at full speed once 2011 rolls around!

For those wondering why I chose The Santa Clause for a photo this year (instead of Die Hard), it's because I randomly caught the flick on TV the other day, and although I've always been a fan since its release in 1994, I was again reminded why I love that movie so damn much. It is truly a fantastic, heartwarming Christmas movie, well written and well directed, so I thought it deserved the spot this time. Above all else - thank you for being a reader, your support means everything to us, I truly mean it. News and updates will be a bit slow for the next week, but 2011 is right around the corner and lots of exciting, intriguing movies are on the way.

Well I'm one glass of cheap champagne down, just about to get into the Leffe beers now and then move onto the Tuborgs, my wife cooked a great meal and my son is happily playing with his Dolls House, (yep I know, but he specifically asked Satan for it), so hopefully will be steaming drunk by tea time. Firstshowers I love your geekery all the best for Chrimbo and the New Years, it's great to talk to people online about something as totally pointless as cinema and mostly it stops me from hanging myself.

Unfortunately, my family has opted to see Little Fockers as our Christmas movies. But I'll try to make the most of it! I'm hoping to pop something a little more substantial into the DVD player tonight. Pleasant Christmas to all.

MERRY CHRISTMAS! Too bad they don't say that at the film studios thanks to the elite few who find it offensive. But at WB we say MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ONE AND TO ALL!

#10 - it's christmas, so i'll not respond to your comment.............and it IS a remake - so deal with it.

beavis on Dec 25, 2010

I have said it since I visited this site for the first time in 2008 that it is and always will be my favorite website, not just movie sites, but ALL sites. Merry Christmas to everyone, and to all a Happy New Year! Oh, and #16, I believe that falls into the category of a response, and I also believe neither of you are wrong, it is a more faithful portrayal of a great novel, so remake seems, for recent history of the word in the sense of film, harsh. But, also, it technically is a "remake", so hopefully that settles it! Love you guys, FirstShowing!

#17 - from the trailers i've seen - it looks like a remake. it doesn't offer enough (that's different from the original movie)to be considered a reboot of it but, we'll see. and i did NOT respond to his telling me what to say (or in this case - what NOT to say) - if i did, i'd been a little more graphic in telling him to mind his own business and that we all are allowed to bring our own thoughts to the conversation. btw - you make an interesting point - maybe it won't be a remake of a classic but rather a reboot in the sense it's going to be more faithful to the book - much like stephen kings reboot of kubricks telling of "the shining". i remember hearing king tell in an interview of his desire to reboot the movie (even though he liked kubricks version) in order to give a more accurate reflection of his book.

Didn't wanna stir the pot, but any form of recognition to his statement could be considered a response to the naked eye, that's all I am saying, and just as you said, my opinion is that it is a movie in itself, and the best this year I believe, sorry if I got you heated about the situation, it was not my intention, I suck at arguments!!!!

Dustin Fuston on Dec 26, 2010

Thanks FIRSTSHOWING for keeping us in the light! Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!!

#19 - not heated at all and, regardless of classification, i'm sure TG will be outstanding (xerxex has told me it was great watch). happy holidays!

beavis on Dec 26, 2010

It really was amazing! Let me know about The King's Speech, it is not playing in my city yet, but heard literally nothing but positive feedback about the amazing performances!

Dustin Fuston on Dec 26, 2010

will do, dustin!

beavis on Dec 26, 2010

somewhat belatedly, but a very Merry Christmas indeed to all at, all contributors and commentators.
