Michael Bay Says Transformers 3 Will Have Even Less Robots

Wait, don't you mean more robots? No, we do mean less. Michael Bay recently attended a presentation in Hollywood for the Academy on the sound of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Hero Complex covered the event and published a small quote from Bay at the end about what to expect in Transformers 3, which is currently slated for 2011. "Although the number of robots increased significantly from the first film for the second, the third film -- which will hit theaters in summer 2011, won't be as robot-heavy and there will be fewer explosions, a tight-lipped Bay said after the Q+A." So Michael Bay is going indie!? Just kidding.
“There will be a nice crescendo ending,” Bay said. “It gets much more into the robot character. The last time you kind of met a few of the robots; this time you’re gonna get a much cooler landscape.”
Apparently fighting in a forest (with IMAX), fighting in Egypt next to the pyramids, and fighting at the Smithsonian, wasn't already cool enough? Where does Bay think he's taking this? I don't think the problem with Revenge of the Fallen was that it had too many robots, it was much more the story and the script and crazy location changes. Although, if this means we won't see Skids and Mudflap or that damn sex-addicted bot named Wheelie ever again, then I'm all for it. Transformers 3 is being written by Ehren Kruger, but I'm sure Bay is working on it, too. Sounds like he's already telling them what to and what not to include in this.

Cooler landscape ey? Bay is gonna take us to Cybertron?

This is actually great news, no more random robots popping out of places for like 2 seconds of the entire movie. If they get can get a decent story with okey dialogue then this may work well.......but that'll never happen as long as Bay messes up the script with his unfunny humour, giant metal balls.

This is gonna be awesome. Michael Bay is awesome! He can't do no wrong!

If they remove all the robots, they might be able to make a decent film.

I don't get it, Michael Bay can do sci-fi. I liked the Island a lot. Bay showed restraint and give us awesome action scenes when they where appropriate. Why can't he do that for Transformers?

Yea! and then the movie will get the title it always wanted from the first two films, "Shia labeouf".

I think the movie is already done, but the rendering will take a year 😀 ...but less "baysplosions"???

Bay said, “It gets much more into the robot character. The last time you kind of met a few of the robots; this time you’re gonna get a much cooler landscape.” And by 'cooler landscape', I'm assuming Bay means more Megan Fox, which isn't necessarily a bad thing but how much you willing to bet that by the end of TF3, Fox has a restraining order slapped against Michael Bay?

Too bad it isnt less Bay.

@11 TRUTH. Michael Bay is not a good director. When I hear of new movies being made and people on these boards suggest Michael Bay to direct them- I fear for the future of hollywood.

I agree with Baron the Curse. Michael Bay is more intelligent than everyone who makes fun of his movies for being stupid, and everyone who calls him stupid. Of course you'll all never believe me because none of you actually understand film making at all. The problem with the second Transformers was that certain aspects of it were too silly. The Island showed that Michael Bay can make a good film, when he doesn't get to carried away. And Transformers both 1 and 2 have a lot of good things going for them. A lot of things that work really well, even beside the other things that fail. No one is perfect, maybe Michael Bay will learn from his mistakes. Maybe he won't. As long as Optimus Prime is still a bad ass, I will continue to watch these movies.

I'm totally not interested anymore in these movies. The complete franchise has been ruined by one man: Bay. That man should be put in chains and put away into the non-creative-prison...

The only way Ill watch this is if he does some kind of origins story and goes back to the cybertron wars and does no attempts at a coherent story. Hes an action director, he should just make mindless action movies instead of sad attempts at romance, comedy and overall dialogue. Honestly Id respect him more if he did that.

Doesn't matter what you change, as long as Bay is directing, it'll be trash.

Less robots... now, I didn't see Transformers 2 because I knew it would be garbage, but one of the things I hated about the first one was all the shitty human parts. Not that I'll see Transformers 3 anyway, but if he thinks that using less robots and less explosions and putting in probably lots more human bullshit, then Transformers 3 will probably be even worse than Revenge of the Fallen.

Listen guys/gals... he(Bay) said less robots. That means no Cybertron. If the movie goes to Cybertron, that would mean MORE ROBOTS. Just let Bay do what he's gonna do. If you saw 1 and 2, you should go see 3. It's just common movie courtesy.

So evidently the consensus in here is bay sucks and no one is seeing tf3....got it. Unfortunately its still going to make millions in profit and Bay is going laugh maniacally as all your friends pour into the theater to see it and give him lotsa cash. If you want it to stop then boycott his movies and tell your friends and family to do the same so studios stop giving him more chances. Once again, unfortunately, thats not going to happen and Bay will reign as mindless movie king for the next decade.

Michael Bay sucks all dick and bows down to Peter and James. Im still laughing to this day when I sat down at the Peter and James Panel at Comic Con 09 when they ripped Michael Bay (can be found on youtube somewhere. It was frigging hilarious and they where both laughing too. Ahhh good times. Thats right M. bay, you read this and it better motivate your punk ass!!

people need to remember hes making these films with the toy buying public in mind. Transformers was for kids way back then, I should know I was one of them. Bay is a juvenile director who would be more at home directing a superbowl movie. people are making more out of these movies than they should. forget TF3, the up and coming Robotech movie is where its at. anybody happen to catch the teaser for the new japanese " space battleship yamato" live action movie?

just an idea, but what if the autobots take sam to a new Cybertron being built. only a few of the autobots can go since they dont know where the deceptons are. Then Bay could go for a Avatar type of movie. Have sam be in a robot suit (like the cartoons) the whole movie. I think it be awesome, plus then maybe we could have UNICRON

how about less megan fox and more good script

I actually think this is good news. I hated how he advertised that there's going to be like 50+ robots in part 2.. but you hardly even got to make out any of the robots clearly. They just need to take notes from the original cartoon series and the animated movie and make the film more about the robots and less about the humans.... and bring on the Dinobots and Omega Supreme!

We dont need more robots....how about more of Sideswipe and Jolt, they hardly had any screen time thanks to the stupid Twins and Wheelie All we need is to get rid of the Twins have Optimus, Bumblebee, Ironhide, Ratchet, Sideswipe, Jolt, and Arcee and Megatron, Starscream, SOUNDWAVE (FUCKING FIGHTING THIS TIME), a few other Decepticon Minions ....and maybe, if it can possibly happen Unicron

I will NOT watch another Transformer movie that isn't the 1986 cartoon version. That film was a huge dissappointment. How can they make Megatron a bitch!? The old school represented the Transformers. If you wanna see real robot characters go watch the Transformers the Movie (1986). That's why i was really let down by Revenge of the Fallen. This is just a typical hollywood cash cow film now. I thought the first movie was pretty good.

He did fantastically well with Armageddon and transformers was a very fun movie but Bay fell far with transformers 2 because of its strange characters, sudden location changing and dirty jokes! i wish that he'd reassure us that hes not gonna screw this one up! who's with me!

I think the problem is that Michael Bay turns every fight scene into the shootout at the OK corral. He needs to get more hand to hand stuff in there and stop being such an Air Force Fan boy. I didn't pay 10 bucks and wait all these years just to see the Decepticons Vs Josh Duhamel and Tyrese. Get it right this time Bay.

@14 "Of course you'll all never believe me because none of you actually understand film making at all." Oh and you do? Well excuse us, Mr. Film student. I apologize for everyone here since their knowledge of film is obviously not up to your standards. I don't understand how you can look at TF2 and just say that it's only problem was, "it was a bit silly" That's not what bothered people. It was the poor script, the bland characters, and unneccessarily juvenile humor that pissed people off. Michael Bay won't ever learn his lesson because of people like you who find robots slapping each other for 2 and a half hours long is "fine entertainment"
