Almost a year ago we got word from producer Don Carmody that a sequel to the horror video game adaptation Silent Hill wasn't happening immediately. At the time, the imprisonment of writer Roger Avary was slowing down development, but it sounds like the project might now be on track. Bloody Disgusting has some news from the American Film Market that writer/director Michael J. Bassett (Solomon Kane) will both write and direct the Silent Hill: Revelation 3D, which will be shot natively in 3D. It's not clear if Avary's idea or script he was once working on is being used as a foundation, but below you'll find details on the story for the horror sequel.
This time our story takes cues from the Silent Hill 3 game and will follow Heather Mason, along with her father, who have been on the run from the dangerous forces that she doesn't full understand, Now on the eve of her 18th birthday, plagued by horrific nightmares and the disappearance of her father, Heather discovers she's not who she thinks she is. The revelation leads her deeper into a demonic world that threatens to trap her in Silent Hill forever. Surely fans of both the game and film adaptation will be excited to hear some progress in development, but for now it's not clear how soon this one might get off the ground. Excited?

the movie version of Silent Hill was a breath of fresh air, its the only video game movie that actually tried to follow the games plot. This sounds good, just remove the 3-D, I honestly was a little freaked out while watching the first one, and I don't see how 3-D is gonna scare people, more like remove the audience from the film with a useless gag.

Kind of disappointed to be honest - I'd much rather Bassett focused his energies on Solomon Kane 2. Loved the first film and thought there was plenty of potential there to expand the scope of the stories in subsequent films. Hope it does well enough on DVD to make part two a formality...

Excited??? You must be kidding. After the first one which featured nonstop screaming, I wouldn't spend a dollar to rent it let alone thirteen to see it in a theater.

I know she's probably too young, but anyone else think Saoirse Ronan would be a good Heather?

I enjoyed the first movie and the first 3 games, but they really should have made a sequel back when it was timely, and before the game franchise had been dragged through the mud. At this point, the Silent Hill name doesn't mean as much as it did.

Ugh.. shot in 3D? That's a good indication it won't have the wonderful atmosphere of the first film. Hopefully I'm wrong though..

I'm really worried for the future of that movie. I really liked the first one, but Solomon Kane sucked big time.

Silent Hill is probably my favorite game series. The first film was one of the biggest disappointments of all time for me; sure the atmosphere was amazing but everything else flat out sucked. Hopefully this one will be better, not being optimistic though.

Solomon was so dull, mostly I think because of the story. Silent Hill I enjoyed. Good atmosphere and build up for the majority of it. Even my other hlaf liked it and she doesn't usually like the genre.

Damn. Making Silent Hill into 3D is the PERFECT way of ruining everything that made the first movie so good. So much frustration, I don't know how to put it into words.

The first film is good but doing the Silent Hill movie sequel with Michael J Bassett as the director and writing the script but everthing in 3D well if they do it well or they will do it worse but lets just see how the movie turns out. Thank You. BRUCE ACOSTA AUSTRALIA
