Michael Nyqvist Gets Villain Role in Fourth Mission: Impossible

Damn, Hollywood really loves The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (as do I). Swedish actor Michael Nyqvist, who starred as the male lead in the film, journalist Mikael Blomkvist, has landed a villain role in Tom Cruise and Brad Bird's upcoming Mission: Impossible 4, or whatever it will be called since Paramount wants to change the title. The casting was originally leaked on What's Playing and later confirmed by THR's RiskyBiz. They add that will Nyqvist will play "one of the lead villains" in M:I4, which makes me wonder if there's more than one or if he just has multiple henchman. Either way, I'm getting more intrigued by the minute.
In addition to Nyqvist and Cruise, the cast of Mission: Impossible 4 includes Jeremy Renner as another young new IMF agent, Paula Patton as a female operative, Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg back in their respective supporting roles, and Russian actor Vladimir Mashkov (Behind Enemy Lines, "Alias") who was also recently announced as part of the cast. Philip Seymour Hoffman in Mission: Impossible 3 is one of my top favorite villains ever and I hope Nyqvist can live up to that, but I guess it comes down to the screenplay delivering a character with enough depth for Nyqvist to fill. Brad Bird is directing and shooting is supposed to start later this year. Paramount has already set M:I4 for release on December 16th, 2011 next winter.
