Greta Gerwig, Tim Gunn, Kevin Durand

We're adding a lil something to this month's sales contest. As you all know, first prize is a Cadillac Eldorado. Anybody want to see second prize? Second prize is a set of Casting Tidbits. Third prize is you're fired. For out first tidbit of casting, Deadline reports rising star Greta Gerwig has landed the lead female role in the Russell Brand led remake of the classic 1981 comedy Arthur. She'll play the charismatic shoplifter who tempts a lovable drunk to take a chance on a woman who makes him feel alive. Gerwig is on the verge of a breakthrough, and starring in this comedy with Brand and Ivan Reitman's upcoming sex comedy, can't hurt.

Next, Variety reports that the cast of The Smurfs has just gained another live-action player as Tim Gunn, from the fashion show Project Runway, will play an executive assistant at a major cosmetic company. It's unclear how he'll come into play with the rest of the story but surely he'll come into contact with The Smurfs as they find themselves chased into NYC after the evil Gargamel (see Hank Azaria in costume here) chases them out of their village. Other cast members include Neil Patrick Harris, Hank Azaria and Sofia Vergara in live-action roles as well as Katy Perry, Fred Armisen, George Lopez, Anton Yelchin, Alan Cumming, Jeff Foxworthy, Wolfgang Puck and Jonathan Winters as Smurfs.

Finally, Kevin Durand (Legion, Wolverine) has officially landed a couple roles in two different films. The first we heard about earlier this week as Durand will play the villain in D.J. Caruso's sci-fi thriller I Am Number Four. The other new project has Durand playing the Texan promoter of robot boxing in Shawn Levy's Real Steel starring Hugh Jackman as a former boxer-turned-manager who reunites with his estranged son to take his fighter to the robot boxing championships. Durand has become quite the action-oriented character actor, and we'll get to check him out next as Little John in Ridley Scott's Robin Hood.

Well, that's all for this edition of Casting Tidbits. Be sure to stay tuned for more casting updates on the way.
