Buried Teaser Trailer

Although I don't want to watch this teaser, I'm posting it anyway. I will be seeing Rodrigo Cortes' Buried at its world premiere at Sundance on Saturday this weekend and don't want it to be ruined by any footage. But since I know everyone else won't be able to see Buried until it comes out in theaters sometime later this year, this trailer is mainly for all of you. I have also read the script and I know why he's recording with a cell phone, but for those who don't know why he's recording this, I'll let the mystery remain. Buried could be a great movie, but it's set entirely in a coffin underground, so who knows? I guess we'll find out in a few days.

Watch the Sundance teaser trailer for Rodrigo Cortes' Buried from YouTube:

A U.S. contractor working in Iraq awakes to find he is buried alive inside a coffin. With only a lighter and a cell phone it's a race against time to escape this claustrophobic death trap. Buried is directed by Spanish filmmaker Rodrigo Cortés, of the films 15 Days, The Contestant, and Dirt Devil previously. The screenplay is written by first-time writer Chris Sparling. There is a lot of buzz surrounding this film here at Sundance, mainly because everyone wants to know if Ryan Reynolds can actually pull off acting in a coffin the entire movie. I, for one, can't wait to see it! We'll let you know our thoughts after seeing Buried later this weekend.

Looks interesting, hope it'll be good. Hopefully it won't I'll be shot just in the cell phone view but it could work if done right. It isn't right? Or is it? There's flashbacks right? Wow the more I think about it the riskier it gets. I'm digging it though.

Since you've read the script Alex: Is it any good? The teaser looks pretty good and I like Ryan Reynolds, but I have to know if it has any good dialogue in it.

Looks like a wildcard...could be great, could be a disaster.

The script was the most engaging script I've read in a long time. However, I still don't know how well it will translate to the screen....

The whole movie takes place inside the box with Reynolds. No flashbacks or cutting to anyone else. I read the script; it's awesome. Could be an Oscar contender next year if Reynolds can pull off the performance.

#2 - Read what #4 said, I agree with him. Read the first page and couldn't put it down until I was done.

Hey Guys, I don't want to be open up to legal issues , however, I have seen this movie at a clandestine screening. It's one of the most twisting, turning movie I have seen all life! Its both amazing and dreary. There is a sense of hopelessness albeit gripping telling of this tale. I wouldn't post any spoilers for respect of all you movie afficianados. Xerxex, Knawx AND Alex, you'd not be disappointed I think. But that's me , I like the fellow Canadian actor! bless

The script was great, very intense and really gripping. I actually caught myself trying to increase my reading speed towards the end, because I couldn't wait to find out how it ends. I am not sure how well this will translate to the big screen. There are some stories that just better books than movies, but I have faith in Ryan Reynolds and his emotional range. ...I wonder if the they stick with the original ending.

Did Panteen just try to advertise their product to a bunch of movie geeks? Was I the only one who saw that? Anyway this will be an epic movie that will standout for years to come, I can just feel it.

@Lar That clip was awesome. Thanks for that. This flick looks incredible.

I loved the script too... Didnt make it to the end cause i dont want to 'spoil' the ending for myself hahaha, but yer as Alex and others have said once i read the first page i was hooked..

thanks Dan, I think I can trust your judgement.

i'd rather watch an early teaser trailer for ryan reynolds deadpool or green lantern fuck buried.

25

Yeah, really smart to light a lighter in a coffin with limited air..

Robbie on Jan 21, 2010

#25 - That's actually a part of the script... He doesn't use it often because he knows it will kill his air. They thought about everything about being in a coffin, don't worry.

Alex Billington on Jan 21, 2010

But how is he going to work in the one liners? Can he do other stuff? I mean that clip did not make me laugh at all. I think Vanwilder droped the ball on this one.....he should have just stayed in school it looked safer there.

Frank on Jan 21, 2010

The concept of this movie is as awsome as it is one my my nightmares brought to the screen. I think Reynolds can pull this off. I think he's one of those actors that will surprise us in this role in how well he does. He's been around a long time and although he's mostly known for his comedic and action roles, he does drama pretty well. Definitly, Maybe sucked balls but the story was stupid. Bad role choice. I'll definitely check this out.

WTF #27?

Lar on Jan 21, 2010

At this point, I'd say I'm a Chris Sparling fan, because I thought the script was unbelievably good. Hopefully I become a Ryan Reynolds fan after seeing the movie (Def/Maybe didn't do it for me, what can I say?).

Ryan is talented by nature. This guy have to be something in this world.

Fisherr on Jan 21, 2010

34

Like most u guys...I read the script. Loved it. I think it's kinda actor proof.... meaning any average actor should pull it off. No disrespect to Ryan.... I think based on his talent and these clips he nailed it... but the script is so HELLA good he should pull it off. This is an actors fantasy... a one man piece showcasing nothing but the actors talent. I'm more concerned about the directing... but I think Rodrigo pulled it off too.. at least based on the clip. Could this be Ryan's Old Man and the Sea/I am Legend/Castaway? More so because it's JUST HIM? I think so. Good luck to all involved... I'm stoked.

Duane on Jan 21, 2010

Read the script and liked it. My only problem is that it didnt seem like a movie to me but like a 90 min long episode of the twilight zone.

PJ H on Jan 21, 2010

36

Where do you get scripts to read. I prefer reading prior to watching and people always say they read scripts on this site.

So he's NOT involved in the plot twist? ... I'll see it anyways.
