Rio Trailer

Along with DreamWorks new trailer for Megamind, 20th Century Fox has debuted a trailer (on Moviefone) for their newest animated movie hitting theaters a year from now, next April. Rio is about a rare species of macaw from a zoo in Minnesota who embarks on an adventure to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil when he learns that there is a female macaw located there. I've always liked Blue Sky's movies, but I haven't enjoyed any of their Ice Age sequels, but this looks like a solid return to form. It also reminds me of Surf's Up a little bit and that may be because the same screenwriter wrote this script, too. Anyway, it's a fun early teaser, so check it out!

A nerdy macaw who lives in a small-town zoo in Minnesota takes off on an adventure to Rio de Janeiro.

Rio is directed by Rio de Janeiro native Carlos Saldanha, who co-directed of Blue Sky's Ice Age, Robots, Ice Age: The Meltdown and Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs previously. The screenplay was written by family writer Don Rhymer, of Big Momma's House, The Santa Clause 2, Agent Cody Banks 2, The Honeymooners, Deck the Halls, and Surf's Up previously. This is Blue Sky Studios sixth feature animated film since Ice Age in 2002. 20th Century Fox is bringing Rio to theaters everywhere starting on April 8th, 2011 next spring.

I loved Surf's Up and this looks pretty good. But I am worried the two Ice Age sequels were pretty bad. The cast from what I gathered was Jesse Eisenberg and George Lopez? I could not figure who the girl voice was...but am I right so far!?

That's what I was thinking too Xerx, and I believe the woman is the lovely Anne Hathaway, but I'm not sure.

George Lopez? Terrible, not to mention he isn't Brazilian. Love Brazil.

Anyone else get the impression that THIS is why "Newt" was canceled?

I watched it again peloquin and it is Hathaway so that means the movie just got better. According to the IMDB page Eisenberg isn't listed, but both Hathaway and Lopez are listed, along with Neil Patrick Harris.

I adored Robots but this didn't feel like it was from the same people. I wasn't impressed at all with this trailer. It seemed extremely slap stick and cheesy. Difficult to say but not one of their best which is too bad because I really had high hopes for Blue Sky Studios. I don't know what you're saying Alex... this is so far from Surf's Up and their mockumentary style; I loved Surf's Up and that comparison gets lost to me.

Not a must watch for me. I'm getting tired of all these animated movies, they all look the same to me right now :\ Looks dull. Makes me miss the movies I had during my childhood 🙁

@16 Lol, sorry. I always forget about the target audience. But this website purposefully showcases these trailers for inevitable bashing. Still though... you are correct.

Yeaa my favorite Blue Sky Studios movie is Robots and Surf's Up was way better than the Ice Age sequels, so I have hope for this. It looks really good, I've watched the teaser a couple times because it makes me laugh. I love Anne Hathaway, Niel Patrick Harris, and George Lopez, so I'm surely looking forward to it next year.

I was more impressed with Megamind which isn't much itself to begin with.
