Rango Trailer

Yeehaw! Paramount has debuted the second full theatrical trailer on Yahoo for Gore Verbinski's Rango, the upcoming animated comedy starring Johnny Depp as a chameleon named Rango. As fantastic as that first teaser looked earlier in the summer, this one is so much better and shows us so much more of the story this time around. More actors providing voices in this include: Bill Nighy, Timothy Olyphant, Isla Fisher, Abigail Breslin, Alfred Molina and Ray Winstone. This really looks wonderful, the animation, the story, the Fear & Loathing-ness of Depp's character, it all looks great, I truly can't wait to see it. Check out the trailer below!

Rango is being directed by filmmaker Gore Verbinski, of The Mexican, The Ring, The Weather Man, and all three Pirates of the Caribbean movies. The script was written by John Logan (Gladiator, The Last Samurai, The Aviator, Sweeney Todd) based on a story by Verbinski and James Ward Byrkit. ILM is animating using "cutting edge techniques" that "allow [them] to capture and translate every aspect of Johnny's performance, using it to drive the computer-generated character in a way that has yet to be seen." Paramount is bringing Rango to theaters on March 4th, 2011 next spring. Visit the official website as well: RangoMovie.com.

The animation looks great, no doubt, but sadly this trailer didn't even get a chuckle out of me. For me, it also lacks an adorable and fluffy character for the d'aww factor and the heart and warmth of most other animated movies. I'll still watch it, though, in hopes of eating my words.

Wow. This looks so good. And the graphics are lightyears better than anything Pixar has made so far. Damn. This looks like it will be way better than Cars 2. Go Rango!

#4, I'm actually glad there isn't some "awww cute" character in this-- lets me know instantly that this wasn't about any kind of child bait and hook by the filmmaker. The motives look to be on a different level. Groovy.

Nice use of Mumford and Sons' "Little Lion Man!" English Folk Rock FTW!!!!! Alex why didn't you list Mouse Hunt? That was one of the best physical comedies of the late 90's Nathan Lane and Lee Evans were brilliant. I'm most definitely seeing this.

#10 Exactly. Mousehunt is insanely underrated. The slapstick is hilarious and very well-crafted. It really shows what Verbinski had in store. Why not list the film that introduced him into the industry? As for Rango, the trailer looks great and the movie looks like a great break from the norm.

Thank you AJ, Mouse Hunt is criminally underrated. Any Nathan Lane comedy is good, especially one with physical comedy. So many people ignore its brilliance.

Xerxex, yup it's definetely 'Roll Away Your Stone', was listening to the mumfords on the way home and realised it 🙂 nice choice of music
