Must Watch: Newer, Shorter, Better Trailer for The Tourist Hits
I really like this trailer. There's something about it, some mysterious undercurrents that it's barely hinting at, but they're there and it's making me more and more excited for this movie. A second new trailer for the Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck directed spy thriller The Tourist, with Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp, has debuted online (via SlashFilm). It's only 60 seconds long compared to the first teaser trailer that was over 2 minutes long. The Muse song makes a difference, but it's also Depp's acting, because I can sense there's more layers to this guy, more that we don't know about, and it's a joy to watch him. Check this out!
Watch the second new trailer for Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck's The Tourist:
An action thriller that revolves around Frank Taylor (Johnny Depp), an American tourist visiting Italy to mend a broken heart. Elise (Angelina Jolie) is an extraordinary woman who deliberately crosses his path.
The Tourist is directed by acclaimed German director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, of only the Oscar winning film The Lives of Others previously. The screenplay was written by Julian Fellowes (Gosford Park, Vanity Fair, Young Victoria), Christopher McQuarrie (Usual Suspects, Valkyrie) and Jeffrey Nachmanoff (The Day After Tomorrow, Traitor). This is a total remake of the 2005 French film Anthony Zimmer. Sony Pictures is bringing The Tourist to theaters everywhere on December 10th late this the fall. Look good?

What bothers me about the two Tourist trailers is that there is no clear line between the comedic aspects of the film and the action/thrills. It's trying to be both, and it comes across to me as confused. It bothers me when I can't get a clear sense of the tone of a film from a trailer. I mean, I am not at all excited or interested in Faster, but at least I know how it's going to feel were I to watch it. I'm still totally on the fence, despite almost everyone involved in the project.

Looks ok. I'll watch it. I really like Depp, but Mother Skeletor... Sorry, Angie Jolie, looks more and more gaunt and malnourished everytime I see her. I never bought her for a second in Salt. She was too rake-thin and veiny to be considered a top-notch spy.

why did write Angie's name the first ?do they have to place Jolie in front of JD?

Only good things can happen with Timothy Dalton in this movie. I hope this film finally enables him to do more mainstream Hollywood movies more often as we see far, far too little of him and that film makers give him a chance and cast him in movies. In addition, I hope that he does more dramas, tries to reach his full potential as an actor and tries to win an Oscar. And I just want to say one more thing about Timothy Dalton. Timothy Dalton is probably one of the best British actors of all time and he was a tremendous but sadly underappreciated James Bond while his approach to the role is the most similar to Daniel Craig’s out of all of Craig’s predecessors. I don’t know why, in the last 15 years, no one has given him the chance to show his s**t again. He deserves a second chance. I wish there would be one god damn film maker in Hollywood that would let him fly because the man is something else.

Well said, #6. Dalton's one of my favourite Bonds without a doubt.

Dude this looks like the exact same trailer as the first one just with the train introduction removed...nothing new save for maybe a quick shot or two...

Okay. I'm calling it now. Angelina Jolie is Alexander Pierce

Does Angelina always have to play these kind of rolls? I know Depp has some better rolls lined up for him. Just seems like the studios wanted to get two of the top sexiest A actors and throw them into a rushed script.

wow..another Angelina movie without guns and explosions...lets hope they still have the sex though

I'm going to go out on a lim and say that someone wrote three variations of a screenplay and all the versions came out this year. Killers/Knight and Day/The Tourist

Reply to #14.... Except that The Tourist was written by the Oscar winning writer/director of The Lives of Others, one of the best films of the past decade.
