Out of nowhere, Disney has debuted a second official trailer for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, which stars Jake Gyllenhaal as Prince Dastan, Gemma Arterton as Tamina, Alfred Molina, Ben Kingsley, & Toby Kebbell. The first trailer for Prince of Persia arrived last November, so there's been a few months for it to soak in, and now we get another shot with this new trailer. I'm a big event movie guy, so this is right down my alley, but I still think I'm the only one excited for it. I love the concept, I love the video game, this looks like it has some awesome fighting, and (for the 10th time) I don't care that Gyllenhaal isn't Persian. Enjoy!

Follows a prince who must stop an angry ruler from unleashing a sandstorm that could destroy the world.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is directed by English director Mike Newell, of Donnie Brasco, Pushing Tin, Mona Lisa Smile, and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire previously. The screenplay was co-written by Doug Miro and Carlo Bernard (The Uninvited, The Sorcerer's Apprentice) and the story was developed by Jordan Mechner, one of the original creators of the video game. Disney will be bringing Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time to theaters everywhere starting on May 28th, 2010 this summer. Will you be seeing it?

The special effects and directions looks great but I have a feeling the acting and screenplay will be a let down. I am huge fan of ALL the games but somethings don't translate well on the big screen (Yes. I am aware Jordan Mechner wrote the screenplay). Plus I have still not warmed up to the beautiful yet pulling off to be very annoying; Gemma Arterton.

Prince of Persia? Partially it looks more like Assassin's Creed to me 😉

@peter Prince of Persia came out way before Assasin's Creed my man. So if anything, assasin's creed looks like Prince of Persia. And this move looks pretty entertaining. I might go see it.

on orphan from the streets that becomes the prince? sounds more like aladdin than prince of persia... but the trailers are improving

@peter @michael Assassin's Creed was the game created by the same team that made the game Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, which this film is based on. So you're both right.

Wall run. That's something I want to see. and @10, that's the way of Hollywood, but I hope that there won't be any reboot or prequel. I'm OK with the sequels if this one proves to be entertaining enough (and it will be).

Not bad. But Bruckheimer delivers a lot of splashy effect movies that are almost unwatchable, so I'll wait for reviews on this..

I gotta say being a big fan of all the games...this looks like the videogame movie that finally stays true to its roots. Jake Gyllenhaal is a great actor IMO and the casting all looks perfect, remember the prince of persia wasnt actually persian he was just a stranger from far away lands. That snake rewind shot gives me hope that it really does stay true to the game. But thats what I thought when I saw the Hitman trailer, lets just hope its not another letdown......O yes and I want wallrun.

@16 Bruckheimer is THE producer and believe me he delivers EVERYTHING. He's got way more creative control than the director (who isn't even mentioned in the trailer) and has final say on almost everything.

I can't believe that people think that Prince of Persia and Assassins Creed look alike. They are completely different in style, gameplay and plot. This looks like Prince of Persia. An Assassins Creed movie would be much darker. However, I think that this looks like a really great movie. This just might be our first really good "translation" of a game into film. I am a fan of both games. Hopefully they will make an AC movie too!

Too bad they didn't cast Will Smith as the lead character. Oh well, maybe for the remake.

Why didn't they just show all the movie........Stop making trailers like that!!!!!!!!

You're not the only one excited, Alex. Prince of Persia is what got me into gaming. :] And I want to facepalm every time someone complains about Gyllenhaal not being Persian. a) The Prince is not of royal blood, he is a street urchin picked up by the King, b) Persia had strong ties to Britain back in its heyday, c) Iranians aren't necessarily dark-skinned. This is a stereotype. Many of them can come off as European. I have two Iranian friends (brothers) who look exactly like Jake does in this.

well, on the bright side: Even if this movie isn't very good, it'll still probably end up as the best video-game adaptation ever made. You see, game developers?! You see what happens when you don't let Uwe Boll make all your movies! You end up with a movie that people actually want to see!!

"... and (for the 10th time) I don't care that Gyllenhaal isn't Persian." That's why it's so hard to take you seriously.

OK its produced by Jerry Bruckheimer films, so that's a positive aspect. Orlando Bloom was rumored for the leading role, and this will be the second PG-13 rated movie from the Walt Disney Pictures label.

Being produced by Jerry Bruckheimer is not a positive, his movies are entertaining to watch but ultimately forgettable. And those of you claiming to have played the games and then stating that it looks true to the game. It looks nothing like the game. The Sands of Time was by far one greatest games to come out in the past decade and this movie does little honor it. I'm also puzzled that some of you would consider this the best video game to movie translation yet when it hasn't even come out yet. To this day there has only been one video game to movie adaptation that was good (good, not great) and that was Mortal Kombat. I don't even wan't to comment on the laughable sequel that was Annihilation. The only good thing I can say from watching the trailer is 1- It has Sir Ben Kingsly in it( the man is brilliant in every movie, even if the movie sucked-BloodRayne anyone). And 2- Uwe Boll has nothing to do with it. As far as Jake Gyllenhaal in the role of the prince, I love him as an Actor but he's not right for the role. This is typical hollywood casting a well known Actor instead of going for someone who isn't as well known. I would haved loved to see Oded Fehr as the prince. For those of you not familiar with Oded, he was in The Mummy, Resident Evil: Extinction, and the television show Sleeper Cell. He would have been perfect for the role. This is going to be an entertaining but forgetable summer movie when it could have been great.

oh come on peter was right, the first 1.30 min of trailer was completely like an assassin's creed movie!!! the jump down, the fights on roof , then it changes to a prince of persia...i hope they make an intentionally mix...but in so enjoyable, in u expect a "based on A game", movie... is a mixture... 😀

Though I just watch this thru my DVD.. Nevertheless, I never failed to be enchanted by the film's story. Even before this is still in video game! Hope there would be Part 2!
