The Beauty of Pixar - Wall-E

We've been featuring various year-in-review videos created by cinephiles, specifically 2010: The Cinescape and Cinema 2010. But there's another new video that, although not necessarily a look back at this year, is a look back at 15 years of brilliance and beauty of one of the best movie studios - Pixar. /Film was the first to discover the video, titled The Beauty of Pixar, created by editor Leandro Copperfield, which contains over 500 hand-picked scenes from Pixar films. Leandro re-watched their entire filmography over 11 days to create this. "This video is a personal tribute for, in my opinion, the best animation studio of all time."

Wasn't that just gorgeous to watch? I'm glad these kinds of tribute videos are made. It makes me nostalgic and happy just thinking about all those wonderful, wonderful movies. I love Pixar! Leandro included scenes from all 11 of their feature films. He adds: "Pixar's films have always been very important in my life. I was 6 years old when I watched Toy Story the first time, and [the] films made my childhood more happy." I totally agree! In fact, Pixar movies still make me happier than ever, some even leave me in tears at the end because they're so damn good, and that was certainly the case with both Toy Story 3 and even Up. Stunning, eh?

Loved the video. I don't want to be so portentous as to plug myself in a comment but I also made a tribute video before Toy Story 3 came out:

Both the OP's and #2's video's are great!

so far I've only disliked Cars and Up, the others including A Bugs Life are favorites. Back to work Pixar. I gotta ask, what was the first song played? P.S. who ever thought up Mr. Potato Head as a Tortilla is a genius...possibly a stoner.

rubix, i really liked your hidden tribute to Joe Ranft and Jim Varney. fit the lyrics perfectly

@Jeremy Bentham...Thank you, Sir!

While the video was good, I felt that save for the middle, the music selection was terrible. The first song, whatever it was, belonged in a Final Fantasy Cinematic tribute video you could find on Youtube. Otherwise, it was decent but nothing groundbreaking.

John on Dec 29, 2010

John don't knock the music, minus The xx the others were songs Pixar used...both from Wall-E.

The additive dissolves were a bit distracting but other than that this was incredible and made me a bit emotional. Pixar has been a huge part of my life and every film that comes from them gets me so excited.

Great video. Heads up to any UK readers of a new Pixar documentary on the BBC next week: Pixar: 25 Magic Moments Monday 3 January 2011 @ 21:00 on BBC Three Through 25 key moments, this programme takes a look at the highs and lows of the multi award-winning animation studio Pixar as it celebrates its 25th birthday, and discovers the secrets of how to make a Pixar movie. With unique access to Pixar HQ and the creative team, it features memorable moments from hits such as Toy Story, Finding Nemo and Monsters Inc, as well as exclusive interviews with Billy Crystal, Tim Allen, Holly Hunter, Kelsey Grammer, Michael Keaton, George Lucas and others.

The Shining and Goodfellas comparisons seamed a little out of place considering those two films aren't family fare as Pixar is. Oh well, some the dissolves from one scene to another seamed choppy, but good none the less!

The first 3 minutes made my night, no joke.

Thank you El and Lane for your guys' comments!

Best animation studio of all time, ha ha ha... Cheesiest for sure. I did like Monsters Inc though.

Crapola on Dec 30, 2010

Pixar is easily the best animations studio. I'm 36 years old and I'm glad I have kids as they are my excuse for owning every Pixar movie (except The Incredibles for whatever reason). They have the best story, characters and visuals year in and year out (although Ratatouille was always odd for me...the only one I've had reservations about). Looking forward to Cars 2 this summer. I think Cars is under-appreciated and along with Nemo and Toy Story are the top 3 for me.

Fabulous! I love Pixar and hope they continue to amaze and delight kids of ALL ages for a long, long time! Bravo!

That was definitely beautiful. Pixar has beautiful visuals, but what makes them special is the stories that they create and their ability to touch our hearts. This video beautifully commemorates their history.

I do hope Pixar sees this video.

Hello, I love that video. Do you know the song at the beggining ? Congratz
