Legend of the Guardians Trailer

Warner Brothers has debuted the first teaser trailer for Zack Snyder's animated owl adventure Legend of the Guardians. We just featured a first look at the movie this morning and, as promised, the first trailer has arrived and will be playing in front of Alice in Wonderland. They call this a teaser but it's over 2 minutes long and has a lot of good footage, so I'm not sure that's the best way to describe it, but it still looks great! I wasn't the biggest fan of Happy Feet, but Animal Logic has really stepped it up with this one, and I'm pretty damn excited for this. It's very much a Zack Snyder-stylized movie, but I must say, it looks pretty awesome.

Legend of the Guardians is directed by Zack Snyder, a former commercials director who has directed Dawn of the Dead, 300, and Watchmen, and is currently working on SuckerPunch. The screenplay was co-written by John Orloff (of "Band of Brothers", A Mighty Heart) & John Collee (of Master and Commander, Happy Feet, Creation). This movie is specifically based on the first three books in Kathryn Lasky's popular series of novels known as the Guardians of Ga'Hoole. Warner Brothers will be bringing Legend of the Guardians to theaters everywhere, in both 2D and 3D, starting on September 24th this year. Planning on seeing this?

looks beautiful, 3D for me

Tom Cruise on Mar 4, 2010

wow wow wow! that traior was amazing! I guess the music and the slow-mo action sequences were meant to get me all excited....WELL IT WORKED! I'm in!

Resciprocity on Mar 4, 2010

Looks like a very fun exciting adventure! I'm definitely in.

David I. on Mar 4, 2010

i seriously think Snyder makes the best trailers in the business may it be 300/watchmen/etc.

nelson on Mar 4, 2010

I'm not usually one to be bothered by trailer music but I really did NOT like the music in this. I found it too distracting. The trailer looked good visually but I need to get a better feel for the story before I'm in.

S on Mar 4, 2010

I agree on the music. For some reason had a flashback to the Secret of Nimh and The Labyrinth. I half expected to hear Bowie singing in the trailer.

Ivanhoe Martin on Mar 4, 2010

I never thought I would say this but this actually looks quite good! Zack Snyder and children don't seem to mix, but this trailer proves that they do. Every time I think Snyder's slow-motion-fast-motion sequences get old, he always finds a new way to make them look interesting. Legends of the Guardians looks absolutely beautiful. I'm actually excited now! Looking forward to seeing it in 3-D in front of Alice in Wonderland.

Echoing #5.....Snyders films always have the best friggin trailers. I mean does anyone remember the very first kick down the well 300 teaser, anyone who saw that was all like "I am totally seeing that". As for this I just dont know it looks like it could be good but I loathed Happy feet so I just dont know

Cody on Mar 4, 2010

#6 - I had a feeling people would be opposed to it... Whenever they use a popular song in a trailer, it's either going to be liked or disliked, simple as that. I personally liked it, but I expected others to hate it. 🙂

Alex Billington on Mar 4, 2010

this sounded kinda' weird but that Zack Snyder + that traler got Me

Paul on Mar 4, 2010

If the music was just a little subtler, it would've gone great.

Lar on Mar 4, 2010

Who sings this song by the way? I heard it before a lot, but can't put a face to the song.

Abe on Mar 4, 2010

Ooooo...Cinematically GORGEOUS...and I actually liked the 30 Seconds to Mars song in the teaser. Gave a kind of childlike epic feel to it. Still not sold on a movie only about owls, but well see. As long as this is a Zack Snyder film, I'll be there:)

Marc on Mar 4, 2010

30 Seconds to Mars. The song is Kings and Queens.

Lar on Mar 4, 2010

I really wish they would have left the title as "The Guardians of Ga'Hoole" It had such nice alliteration, I thought it was perfect :o(

peloquin on Mar 4, 2010

It may have been wrong for this trailer, but the music is actually kinda cool. Does anyone know what song is this? It sounds like 30 Seconds To Mars.

Amr Hassan on Mar 4, 2010

Ok Zack Snyder just made a movie about fighting owls against background emo music? I'm worried

Don on Mar 4, 2010

Wow, this looks BEAUTIFUL! Love the music. Epiiiiiiiiiic!

Robbie on Mar 4, 2010

My gun is jammed so I can't shoot my fucking face off! DAMMIT! AWFUL MUSIC! 🙁

Xerxex on Mar 4, 2010

okay serioulsy know I didn't like the trailer, hopefully a theatrical one will be better.

Xerxex on Mar 4, 2010

Great looking movie. Truly the visuals are fantastic. But the story looks like nothing more than valiant on steroids. I'll give it a shot though if it gets good word of mouth

It looks great! Besides, Zack Snyder is a sure bet.

leinergroove on Mar 4, 2010

Looks like another Synder film that if you played all the slow motion parts at regular speed it'd be 30min shorter.

JP on Mar 4, 2010

Anybody else thinking that this is how Watership Down should of been like? All-in-all I am in. My wife got all emotional, of course, she is due to have our daughter any day now. I agree that Snyder does trailers the way they are suppose to done. His trailers all ways give me goosebumps.

Alejo on Mar 4, 2010

twittwit on Mar 4, 2010

Zack Snyder is the fucking man and a Jesus. And I've loved him since Watchmen. I will definitely be watching this. He is the epitome of being able to capture emotion.

danielvutran on Mar 4, 2010

no, Watership Down should not "of" been done like this. That story is not something that would translate well to an adventure/comedy, and that seems to be the only kind of animated film people here are willing to make. I wouldn't trust a US studio with that book at all. I think this trailer looks promising. They didn't really tell much at all of the plot, which is good. It also looks like they didn't make it too cheerful or goofy, which is a bonus. Won't know for sure until I can see the whole thing, tho. I hope this turns out well.

Squiggly_P on Mar 4, 2010

HUGO WEAVING!!!! the music sucked

DoomCanoe on Mar 4, 2010

That looks absolutely lame

Aaron B on Mar 4, 2010

Looks incredible. Sounds awful.

Givorden on Mar 4, 2010

neat 😀

DaftPUNKFAN on Mar 4, 2010

Honestly, since its by the creators of happy feet, chances are its gonna be extremely environmentalist

Whocares on Mar 4, 2010

Kinda campy but Snyder knows what he's doing. And stop hatin' on the music.

CLZ on Mar 4, 2010

#27 Alejo, congrats on the daughter!

Xerxex on Mar 4, 2010

I think it will get old after 20 minutes. And I dig Snyder's work alot.

People's Champ on Mar 4, 2010

I think it looks great. Looking forward to seeing it.

mercedes on Mar 4, 2010

I love the visiuals, im not one for children movies but i might check this one out

Darren on Mar 4, 2010

This actually looks extremely way.

Timothy on Mar 4, 2010

Dawn Of The Dead 300 Watchmen Cartoon Owls?

Brian Ricci on Mar 4, 2010

as a initial reaction is it seems kind of "meh". BUT - visually, it's stunning. i'll see it just for the visuals/art. and hope the story is good.

beavis on Mar 4, 2010

Owls flying, owls standing, owls flying, owls flying, owls flying, owls walking, owls standing, owls flying I can't believe this is real. The song in the trailer didn't help to sell it either

Dan W on Mar 4, 2010

owls are the shit, son.

dali on Mar 4, 2010

Does anyone know if the narrator for this at the beginning is Hugo Weaving?

David on Mar 4, 2010

Slow motion crazy! Thats some pretty boss animation as well. That would be a pretty sweet movie to have in true 3D.

Bauzer on Mar 4, 2010

#46 - Yes it is. Weaving voices the "father" owl named Noctus in the movie.

Alex Billington on Mar 4, 2010

It looks interesting. I will go see it. the only thing I didn't like was the music, that was just no...

Mony on Mar 4, 2010

My kids love the books. I showed them the trailer and they're ready to see the film NOW! They were quite disappointed when I told them the movie isn't out until Sept. Much to my surprise the trailer actually makes me want to see the movie too.

E. Jones on Mar 4, 2010

just another zero to hero story..

pohon on Mar 5, 2010

#51 And what's wrong with that? We constantly need NEW movies re-hashing old stories, why? FOR THE NEWER GENERATION! GET OVER YOURSELF! I AM SICK AND TIRED of people using this stupid excuse of an insult to call a movie "bad"! Use some logic people! Otherwise we would all still be reading glyphs from Egypt to learn morals!

danielvutran on Mar 5, 2010

Great Glaux in Glaumora! Breathtaking animation. Truly captures the essence of Kathryn Lasky's novels, or at least it appears to have the potential to do so. Evidently, I'm a big fan of the series so I am definitely looking forward to this. The books are great

Evander on Mar 5, 2010

I do like it, But seem's to show too much in this. I'm in althought.

D. on Mar 5, 2010

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I was having a bad morning, but that 'peace' of beauty made it almost all better.

Kim on Mar 5, 2010

Hmmm? I wonder who's the evil that needs to be vanquished here. Big Ups to Animal Logic

Kim on Mar 5, 2010

Wow this had to be expected, since Watchmen was such a disaster Snyder's been forced to direct a film aimed towards children. AND IT LOOKS LIKE GARBAGE! The only thing positive I can say is I like all the Aussie accents even if some of them sound a bit odd.

DiR3cT on Mar 5, 2010

this looks like an Alfred hitchcock wet dream! too many birds. Pass!

indyjack on Mar 5, 2010

Having 2 young children, I get out to the theatre far less often than I'd like. When movies like this come along, I'm super excited, because it's something we can all watch. I'm not sure my 3 year old would be so into Shutter Island, so yay!

Jordan on Mar 5, 2010

Liked the trailer. Save for that God awful 30 Seconds to Mars song.

Film Fan on Mar 5, 2010

Hey 27! CONGRATS! My God PLEASE!!!!!! Quit comparing this to "Happy Feet" It is almost insane. Maybe both main targets of reference have feathers, beaks and wings. But that is it..........Jesus!!!!!

Clover on Mar 5, 2010

Yay! Owls..............and helmets....................not.

gplongwood on Mar 5, 2010

Hey I liked the music!! thought it was epic enough to suit the epic imagery. Anybody agree?

rblitz7 on Mar 5, 2010

Didn't like Happy Feet at all. B-o-r-i-n-g....... Hopefully this will be better.

arjones on Mar 5, 2010

The only way I'd ever be interested in anything Zack Snyder will ever make again is if he makes an animated kids movie about owls... wait... he's doing what?

SoftnessSquared on Mar 5, 2010

I was sold untill the last tagline came, 3-D. Fuck off.

Shige on Mar 5, 2010

Other than the visuals looking very good. the story along all the horrible accents, i would never ever see this horrible thing.

WhatInTheWorld on Mar 5, 2010

Gave me shivers! Cool!

Ambient on Mar 6, 2010

The trailer was brilliant in 3-D in front of ALICE.

Clover on Mar 6, 2010

WOW!! I friggin loved the visuals. so pretty. The music was cool people. Gawsh. This caught my attention.

Aimee on Mar 6, 2010

The trailer looks great! But pinguins are better than owls. I love pinguins.

Alfred de Bruxelles on Mar 8, 2010

I was getting hyped watching the trailer until I heard the gay ass modern type coldplay music and seeing it has a very cliche plot

Your Daddy on Mar 10, 2010

Wow, so coll! The spirit grasps in some moments 🙂 I will precisely look this animated cartoon at a cinema in 3D!!!

Alvazar on Mar 14, 2010

The music is used to con adolescents into thinking this is also for them when clearly animated owls are for people who became parents at the age of 14

Jon the Rob-ot on Mar 15, 2010

So amazing animation! Best 3D story in my memory. Cool! I love this film!

Spacer on Mar 20, 2010

The movie looks so good I started reading the books.THE BOOKS ARE AWESOME!!! I hope the movie is just as good!!! CAN'T STOP WATCHING THE TRAILERS.
