New Video Interview: 'Black Swan' Director Darren Aronofsky

September 27, 2010

Darren Aronofsky

As my lengthy film festival tour starts to come to a close, I've been thinking back through all of the films I've seen, and one that has stuck with me the whole time is Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan starring the lovely Natalie Portman. It is undoubtedly one of my very favorite films of the year and another fantastic work of art from one of the best filmmakers around. Although I first saw the film in Telluride (read my review), I didn't have the chance to catch up with Darren Aronofsky for an interview until I got to Toronto. Below you will find my 15 minute interview with Aronofsky, which is a must watch for anyone who's a fan of the filmmaker.

Watch my interview recorded in Toronto with Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky:

Black Swan stars Natalie Portman as an aspiring ballerina hoping to land the lead role in a new production of Tchaikovsky's ballet Swan Lake. One of her rivals is another young dancer named Lilly (played by Mila Kunis). I won't spoil any more of the story, but let's just say it goes to some very crazy places from there. I've interviewed Aronofsky before (in Toronto two years ago) and he's one of my favorite filmmakers because he truly is a genius, and it shows in all of his films, especially Black Swan. I could've talked with him for hours, but obviously had to fit in as many questions as I could in only 15 minutes. I hope you enjoyed the interview!

Fox Searchlight is bringing Black Swan to theaters starting on December 1st. You can watch a trailer here!

Cool interview with my very favorite director! Could've been a couple of hours longer if you ask me. 😉 Thx a lot for this!

Mr Aspiring Filmmaker remembers to click BLC button on the cam when there´s a bright window behind the subject 😉

I really wanna watch this, but I must resist if there are spoilers. Bookmarked for after I see the film though.

#3 - I was using a Flip cam, it has no options besides just pressing the Record button and that's it. Can't control anything, but that's why I love the Flip - simple and easy!
