Nicholas Hoult Fully Cast as Beast in Fox's X-Men: First Class
Casting continues on 20th Century Fox's X-Men: First Class prequel. Deadline reports that they've fully set Nicholas Hoult, the kid originally from About a Boy, to play a young Beast in the movie. There were rumors about different people getting the role of Beast, but it looks like it will definitely be Hoult. In related, but unconfirmed, news AICN (via SlashFilm) reports that Aaron Johnson has been locked as young Cyclops, but that isn't official yet, so take that with a grain of salt. At least there are now four official cast members set for this, along with James McAvoy (Xavier), Michael Fassbender (Magneto) and Alice Eve (Emma Frost).
Hoult, who's now 20 years old, has appeared in films like A Single Man and Clash of the Titans recently, so he's definitely still around. Beast is the X-Men mutant who we saw in X-Men: The Last Stand as played by Kelsey Grammer. Dr. Hank McCoy, as Beast is really known, was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1968 and possesses ape-like superhuman physical strength and agility and oversized hands and feet, although he otherwise appears to be a normal human being. I don't know about everyone else, but this is a character I'm really excited to see return in this X-Men prequel and I can't wait to see what Vaughn will do with this cast.
Quick Update: Variety also adds that fellow 20 year old actor Caleb Landry Jones has landed the role of Banshee, an Irish mutant who possesses a sonic scream, capable of harming auditory systems and causing physical vibrations. They're really going young on this, casting a full slate of newcomers. Plenty more casting for X-Men: First Class should be on the way soon! So stick around to find out who else will join the X-Men.

I don't know about this movie... it's going to be a more extreme version of twilight, because you KNOW FOR A FACT that they're going to play up all the teenage emo stuff with all these young actors. A school filled with high school students with super abilities = cafeteria fights and love triangles... with super abilities. That could be a good thing (for the brand) or a bad thing. When X-Men was first created it was mainly about young people around high school age going through all the different mutant adventures. Since then X-Men has evolved into a Mutant Avengers, but perhaps going back to the teenage roots won't be so bad. We'll have to see what direction they go.

@4.. What do you mean twilight style? Honestly, I like twilight's style the photography and the camera quality of some of their shots. I mean the style is very crisp. The movies suck balls... but what do you mean?

So X-Men #1 in 1963 didn't really have Beast in it? He came along five years later? Am I the only one who finds that this site reads as though written by the Hollywood guy Jackie on The Onion?

@5, I don't think anyone would honestly mistake his comments for a criticism on Twilight's cinematography, let's get real here. He's concerned that X-Men will turn into a hormone-driven teenage soap opera with super powers mixed with love triangles, i.e. Twilight. But as I've stated in my original post I don't know if that would be a good or bad thing, as X-Men started out as a group of teenagers living at Professor Xavier's School. So many comic fans these days are used to the modern version that looks like a mutant Avengers team rather than a group of outcasted young people. We'll have to wait and see.

Did anyone else notice the newscast in X2? Beast was on T.V. as a regular dude. He wasn't all blue and hairy like in Final Stand. Is this movie supposed to be part of the same timeline?
