Animal Kingdom Trailer

Sony Pictures Classics has debuted the official US trailer on Apple for David Michôd's Animal Kingdom, not to be confused with the classic Disney theme park of the same name. Animal Kingdom is actually a truly incredible Australian film about a family (a teenage kid and his uncles and grandmother) of armed robbers from Melbourne's underworld. I watched it again recently as I interviewed director David Michôd and it's an amazing film, especially for a first-time director. There's a good chance lead actress Jacki Weaver may get an Oscar nom. We featured an international trailer in March but this new trailer is definitely worth watching.

Animal Kingdom is written and directed by first-time Australian filmmaker David Michôd. Excerpt from the Sundance website: "Wielding a formidable cinematic lexicon, writer/director David Michôd shows complete command of every frame as he shifts between simmering intensity and gut-wrenching drama. There isn't a false note in the film as it follows through on the tantalizing promise displayed in his shorts and unleashes a fierce new voice in Australian cinema." After debuting at the Sundance Film Festival, Sony Pictures Classics acquired the film and is now bringing Animal Kingdom to limited theaters on August 13th in the summer.

The movie's really good. It's nice to see something of quality come out of Australia for once.

I caught this at Sundance this year - I urge everyone to go see it. It was a masterpiece. One of the best Australian films in recent years.

This looks really good. The mom hooked it for me. I want to watch it just to see her and her scarey mobster mom ways.

Wow Guy Pearce didn't get a mention in the whole article?

#8 - Geez man, it's not a big deal, I just didn't have space to fit him in there! I didn't mention any of the cast at all. He's actually not really the highlight of the film either. Pearce is fantastic, but the rest of the cast really stands out even MORE, they deserved to be mentioned, too. However, I DID pick that photo at the top so you could see it was Pearce in it. Agree with #3 and #4 - it's a GREAT film, definitely try and see it!

Yeah, it is definitely great to see a decent Australia film, especially one that isn't filled with "Australiana". I would not be surprised if this won a few oscars.

guy pearce is such a talented actor but his agent must suck. he lands these... roles, but for some reason the movie just flops.

#9 - The movie hasn't flopped yet, in fact it's not even close to flopping. It's an Australian indie, being released in the US in August, I'm sure it'll have a decent run as an indie film at the box office.

Aussie Here. I've seen the film, and its amazing, I don't like many Australian Films either. This trailer though does not do the film justice, the original trailer featuring the Air Supply song fits the film tonally much better.

I hate the repetition in the trailer but the movie looks promising. Just the editing of this was shoddy to use two of the same lines TWICE.

Fantastic movie, but that trailer was absolutely pathetic. Repeated lines, cliche pacing/edits and it gives away some of the biggest plot twists in the film. If anyone reads this before watching the trailer, skip it and watch the movie without this shitty trailer in your mind.
