Jackboots on Whitehall Trailer

Nazi puppets! Twitch has debuted the first trailer for the new puppets/claymation/stop-motion animation film Jackboots on Whitehall. The film presents a satirical alternative history of World War II where the Nazis seize London and England must band together to prevent a full on invasion. We featured some spiffy photos of the film earlier this year, but haven't heard or seen much about it since then. That said, this looks totally awesome, in a crazy absurd Team America kind of way. Remarkably, it features the voices of Ewan McGregor, Rosamund Pike, Tom Wilkinson, Alan Cumming (as Hitler!) and Timothy Spall. Check it out!

Watch the official US trailer for Edward & Rory McHenry's Jackboots on Whitehall from YouTube:

Jackboots on Whitehall was both co-written and co-directed by British brothers and first-time filmmakers Edward McHenry and Rory McHenry. The film was produced in the UK by E-Motion Pictures and Media 8, but is an independent production so it doesn't actually have a US distributor yet. It hasn't played at any film festivals yet either, so we have no clue when it'll be hitting theaters. A sales sheet from AFM mentioned that "Jackboots on Whitehall boasts pioneering techniques in animation," but beyond using puppets, we're not sure what that means. Stay tuned for any updates on Jackboots on Whitehall, only if you want. Thoughts?

This is basically "TEAM AMERICA" meets "INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS", and since I love both films this is meant to be a compliment.

Well #3 the only difference between your "film" and this one is is that Jackboots was made with people who have talent. So that's worth $10 right there.

#5...........that trailer is supposed to show the people who made it have talent? - i didn't see it. anyone who pays to see this in a theatre will prove PT Barnum was right: a sucker IS born every minute.

Wanted to like this, but it actually looks pretty terrible, which is a real shame.

Looks pretty awful to me. Robot chicken actually looks more well put together than this movie. Seems to be going the Team America route, but failed miserably. You can't beat the puppet work in Team America, especially with this sorry attempt. But to be honest I still think I might watch it, just with an understanding that the people who put this together had no idea what they were doing.

That looks terrible. The puppets don't move their mouths enough when they speak, even Robot Chicken makes it look better, more animated and energetic. I had to turn it off after 30 seconds, sorry.

Puppets? Nazis? Alternate history? This *should* have been great... But it looks completely awful.

I'll watch anything with Ewan McGregor in it, even if it's only his voice. Also Stephen Merchant has a voiceover so that alone makes it worth watching

It look like Stephen Merchant has a fairly big role. I love Tim Spall as Churchill! Brilliant!!!

Not as great as I'd thought it would be but I'll still give it a chance. And @11 the crucial difference between this and Robot Chicken is the use of stop-animation, hence their mouth's dont move as fluently.

My god this film is shit, saw it last weekend.. the action men adverts in the 1980s had better story and better directed than this pile of crap, id rather spend an hour trying to poke my eyes out with a rusty spoon than expose them to this drivel again .. nuff said .. see it at your own boredom.
