Paul Dano Joins Rian Johnson's Time Travel Sci-Fi Film 'Looper'

Though the project was announced over two years ago, Looper, the next film from writer & director Rian Johnson (Brick, The Brothers Bloom) has slowly been developing. Earlier this year, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis and Emily Blunt signed up to star in the anticipated film that follows a group of hitmen (called Loopers) in present-day who are sent their targets from the future. Now yet another cast member has joined as Variety reports Paul Dano (Little Miss Sunshine, There Will Be Blood) is now part of the cast. While the trade wasn't aware what character Dano would play, another source seems to have it figured out. Read on!
The Playlist found this news on their own as well, and they've learned that Dano will play a character named Seth who is one of the Loopers alongside Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Though the role is said to be fairly brief, it's apparently a key part of the story. Remember that the film itself is supposed to follow Gordon-Levitt as he discovers that one of his victims is actually the older version of himself from the future and lets him go instead of killing him. Then it's a race against time to track him down and kill the older version of himself in order to save his own future. Yea, it sounds pretty crazy. Shooting is slated to start early next year, but it's not clear when the film might get released. All I know is that Brick and Brothers Bloom were in my Top 10 films in their respective release years, and I can't wait to see what Rian Johnson does with this material.

Brick was definitely Joseph Gordon-Levitt's shining moment that lifted him from teen-heartthrob to serious actor. Really excited for another Levitt/Johnson collaboration!

I absolutely hate this actor. He is absolutely awful, he almost ruined There Will Be Blood but Day-Lewis saved that film. Terrible miserable shite actor. Boo!

I like him in everything I've seen him in. This movie sounds fun enough. He does tend to play fairly miserable characters as Kinks has pointed out, but I'm fine with that because when I'm not watching films I'm dancing with Jesus in my heart floating on a cloud of positivity. Can't wait now it's only 23 days til his birthday, praise be!
