Ron Howard Directing a Vince Vaughn Infidelity Comedy Next

Ron Howard and Vince Vaughn? Those two don't sound like they'd be friends. Variety's BFDealMemo is reporting that Ron Howard "has committed" to next direct Vince Vaughn in a currently untitled comedy written by Allan Loeb (Things We Lost in the Fire, 21, Wall Street 2). The film will be an exploration of the comedic fallout surrounding infidelity between lovers and friends. Sounds like it was kind of inspired by Tiger Woods. Universal is planning to start shooting in spring in Chicago. Brian Grazer, who "hatched" the idea, will produce with Vaughn and his Wild West Picture Show company. Are you interested in this yet?
It doesn't sound like this is one of the eight scripts that Loeb has "in-development" on IMDb. THR explains the plot differently: "The story follows a man who learns that his best friend's wife is cheating and must then navigate treacherous waters to decide what do with that knowledge." One of the screenplays Loeb has in the works, titled Men, is about an ad exec who becomes roommates with the man who his wife is having an affair with. Sounds similar, but that's setup at Warner Bros, so it can be the same. I guess it's just odd to see Ron Howard directing a comedy with Vince Vaughn, but I'm curious to hear more about it. Thoughts?

Its been awhile since his done a comedy(1999) After serious movies like the Langdon movies, Frost/Nixon, Beautiful Mind and Cinderella Man, He's ready to do something a little lite.

cool, Vaughn can do any type of comedy and sell it easily, and Howard is a decent director Frost/Nixon was good, so I'm sold.

I am sorry but I cant stand Vaughn as an actor, he just cant act. But I guess its fitting considering the one character he can play is in comedy.

#1, how can that be your name and you don't mentioned Arrested Development? Ron Howard is very capable of directing/producing comedies and VV fits his style perfectly. Bateman (starred in AD) fits well with Vaughn's comedy (they've been in at least 3 movies together) and it shouldn't be hard at all for Howard to use Vaughn. Alex, I really don't understand what you don't get. I guess just cause Ron Howard isn't known for comedies? The 2 popular comedies he has had in hands in were AD (one of the funnniest tv shows ever imo) and The Grinch, which I thought was pretty good.

I just don't buy vince as handsome or charismatic, he is often paired up with pretty females leads, but I just don't see the appeal, if anything he should just be the funny brother or stoner roommate
