For his first big action feature, director Nicolas Winding Refn (Bronson) sure is lining up a great cast to keep it running on all cylinders. The forthcoming Hossein Amini (Four Feathers) written adaptation of James Sallis' novel Drive will see Ryan Gosling as a nameless Hollywood stuntman (Gosling) who moonlights as a Hollywood stuntman who moonlights as a freelance getaway driver during robberies. In the passenger seat is Carey Mulligan while Bryan Cranston, Christina Hendricks and even Albert Brooks are in the mix. Now Screen Daily says Ron Perlman (Hellboy) has joined the impressive cast as well.
Bold Films and OddLot Entertainment are producing the film which sees the stuntman (Gosling) turned getaway driver caught up in a bank heist gone wrong. Suddenly the driver is forced to go on the run with a contract on his head and an ex-con's girlfriend (Mulligan) sitting in the passenger's seat along for the ride. It's not entirely clear what role Perlman will be taking but SlashFilm (having read the script) thinks he'll play the guy who sets up one of the jobs in which Gosling’s character gets involved. Is it this messed up bank heist? I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Terrific book, and a great author. I hope they keep the material dark like its supposed to be.
