Sam Jackson Says a S.H.I.E.L.D. Movie Coming After Avengers?

Nick Fury

It is? The big Marvel news of the day seems to be this little quote from an interview that RadioBigBoy (via The Playlist) recently had with Samuel L. Jackson, better known as Nick Fury in the cinematic Marvel Universe. In the interview, Jackson states: "The Avengers should start shooting some time next year, and then some time after that there'll be a big S.H.I.E.L.D. movie." Whoa, this brings up plenty of questions. First, does he mean a Nick Fury movie, because isn't The Avengers a S.H.I.E.L.D. movie as is? Second, if it's a spin-off, will they bring in other secondary S.H.I.E.L.D. members who aren't big superheroes to fill it up?

Our friends at SlashFilm remind me that we've got at least two S.H.I.E.L.D. members who might appear in this spin-off: Agent Coulson (played by Clark Gregg) and Black Widow (played by Scarlett Johansson). But who else might be in this if not the big superheroes (Iron Man, Thor, Captain America)? It's interesting to note that so far the only S.H.I.E.L.D. people we've ever met have all been from the Iron Man movies, so maybe we'll meet more secondary characters in the Thor and Captain America movies before we get to The Avengers. All I know for now is that Marvel has a very exciting line-up coming down the road. Thoughts?

Thoughts? well I gotta ask Why? Nick Fury is cool and all, but can he lead a film soley as the lead?

It'll be like "Get Smart" only played strait, with bad action instead of bad comedy.

I think it would be a great idea. You can learn what SHIELD is and what they do and who Nick Fury is. Maybe it will show some stuff of what they do while the other movies are going on or were going on. Who knows and who cares. Its SAM baby....it will be kwel regardless.

#1 - I'm sorry, but anyone that can make a movie out of the word "snakes on a motherf*ck'n plane" can lead anything, including the train in yo muthas bedroom.

#5 Snakes on a Plane was...Terribad! Jackson is good, but he's lost his touch...he's good in side roles know.

SLJ is all about money now. But SHIELD could be a good movie. Iron Man 2 had no action but I guess I can see how SHIELD would be interesting.

#6 we'll just have to agree to disagree on SOAP, 'cause camp has it's place. And character actors like jackson haven't lost their touch, we just get to know their style. “I have had it with these motherf*ckin’ snakes on this motherf*ckin’ plane!”

Can Nick Fury carry a movie? HAHAHAHAHA. Can Sam Jackson carry a movie? HAHAHAHAHA. Train in yo muthas bedroom? HAHAHAHAHA. This is gonna rock. I would think that some or all of the 'Avengers' will make cameos in SHIELD. This must mean one thing: HYDRA. If Marvel is going to spend all this money making movies: I think they are going to do all their top shelf stories on all their main comic books. This just keeps getting better.

Bring in the 'howling commandos' and I'm in.

Looks like they're reaching. S.H.I.E.L.D. is a lesser-known Marvel entity--I don't think it should be a big-budget movie. Sure, they can reference the big guys, but really they're just a slightly-superpowered governmental task force...one that leaves the heavy-lifting to The Avengers. Throw $50 million at it and see what happens.

I once read that Sam mother f*ckin jackson's only goal was for his movies to make more money than Harrison Ford.

I once read that Sam mother f*ckin jackson's only goal was for his movies to make more money than Harrison Ford. He even petitioned for a role in the last indiana jones movie. pathetic. he's more about quantity than quality

POSSIBLE PLOT POINTS! Godzilla Unit. For a short span of the comics Godzilla roams the United States, and a new group was forced to combat him. It was.... special. (that was a joke fyi) Could possibly see an introduction to S.W.O.R.D. Which could open up movies that primarily have to do with space and extraterrestrial activities. Also, don't forget that Betty Ross (bruce banner's gf) Is head of public relations at S.H.I.E.L.D. She could easily be put into The Avengers and/or the S.H.I.E.L.D. movie. Which would be a nice tie in for Hulk being in The Avengers in some fashion.

Yeah I lost #8...I wrote "Know" instead of "Now" so you win...dammit!

The problem is if Jackson is the lead he'll have to be more heroic than the idle Furry we see today. Thats gonna be a huge continuity problem.

Yeah.......... It's all about that dang macguffin..... If that part of it can intrigue me, I'd see it. Right now, NOTHING outside of Batman 3 is a superhero movie I'd want to drop everything and see right now. :-/

As a comic nerd and sam jackson fan id love it but for the general public im sure it be a flop..Only way it work if it was a small budget

anybody remember the old comic book series "Blackhawk"??? gotta be a goldmine of sh*t they can make into about 5 different movies from that alone...I mean, EVERYTHING is taken from comic books these days...

blasphemer on May 14, 2010

Come on guys, let's think about this. What is Marvel doing right now with their movies? They are tying every film into each other via cameos and references in order to set up movies like The Avengers. But why stop there? If we apply the formula to a possible S.H.I.E.L.D. movie what do we get? Can anybody say Hulkbuster?!?
