Scorsese Wants Pacino/De Niro as Frank Sinatra/Dean Martin

Though this is far from being official casting news, usually when Martin Scorsese wants actors for any project, they're not likely to turn him down. So it's interesting to hear that Scorsese himself told The Hindu (via The Playlist): "I'm yet to spot the actor who can bring back Frank Sinatra alive on screen. My choice is Al Pacino [as Frank Sinatra], and Robert De Niro as Dean Martin." As epic as that sounds, knowing what we do about Scorsese's gestating Frank Sinatra biopic, these two actors won't be playing those iconic singers throughout the whole film, since it's meant to follow Sinatra's life at various ages with many different actors.
That casting is interesting, to say the least, and since the actors will likely play Sinatra/Martin at the oldest ages we'll see them on screen, I don't think their singing voice (or really lack thereof, at least that I'm aware of) should be a problem. Of course, with no idea when production will actualy begin on this biopic (after all, Scorsese's next project is the 3-D adaptation of The Invention of Hugo Cabret) this is just Scorsese's dream casting. I'm sure it will be quite a while before we hear any official casting for this project, but with names like George Clooney, Johnny Depp and Leonardo DiCaprio being thrown around, there's sure to be plenty of speculation and rumors until we hear anything official. Who's your top pick to play Frank Sinatra?

Joe Montagne (from Criminal Minds) should play Martin. He has done so in the past and his impression of Martin is fantastic. I can see Harry Conic Jr as Sinatra. He has the voice, the small body size, and the and the look. You need a small actor for Sinatra. He was a little guy.

That would be awesome.

As fun as it would be, that would over shadow the point. Casting huge stars as different huge stars seems to differ the point. I'll just end up thinking of Sinatra as Pacino doing a Sinatra impression, weather its good or not.

Toby Huss (Sinatra), and Eric Roberts as (Dean Martin) in their prime...who knows who would play them as kids or teens.

For younger Frank, maybe Harry Connick Jr. he was good in Memphis Belle. For older Frank, Stephen Triffitt is the obvious choice.
