Seth Gordon Directing Divorce Comedy with Rashida Jones

After director Seth Gordon had his breakthrough directorial debut with The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters, I had high hopes for him. And then came Four Christmases. Luckily Gordon has had a decent run recently directing episodes of NBC's series' "The Office," "Community," and "Parks & Recreation" so he's redeemed himself a bit, but more redemption is on the way as THR reports Gordon will direct Celeste and Jesse Forever, a divorce comedy starring Rashida Jones which tracks a couple in the midst of a divorce attempting to maintain their friendship while pursuing new relationships. Sounds safe and quite average!
Jones, who is a rare exceptional female comedic talent in the industry today, also co-wrote the script with Will McCormack who is working with Jones on her other gestating project Frenemy of the State. I'm hoping that these projects really turn Jones into a household name and a popular leading lady in comedy. There are very few lead actresses who focus on comedy, but Jones is definitely one who keeps things fresh. Hopefully she can help Gordon realize his potential as a great director as well, since right now he's got a lot of work to do to recover. For now, I'm hopeful that this could turn out good. We'll see who's cast as the husband next.
