Sorcerer's Apprentice Video: 'Fantasia: The Coolest Scene Ever'

The Sorcerer's Apprentice

This is probably one of the coolest featurettes we'll see for The Sorcerer's Apprentice because it finally explores the origin of this entire concept by going back to the classic Mickey Mouse apprentice seen from Fantasia! The video is called "Fantasia: The Coolest Scene Ever" and is totally as epic as that sounds. While this summer hasn't been that incredible so far, this is one movie I am seriously looking forward to in July. It just looks so frickin' cool, all that magic and cool sh*t happening to them, it just looks like it'll be a blast. And their Fantasia scene looks good, too. Do yourself a favor and check this out - you won't regret it!

Master sorcerer Balthazar Blake (Nicolas Cage) recruits a seemingly everyday guy (Jay Baruchel) in his mission to defend New York City from his evil arch-nemesis - sorcerer Maxim Horvath (Alfred Molina).

The Sorcerer's Apprentice is directed by veteran filmmaker Jon Turteltaub, who also directed 3 Ninjas, Cool Runnings, The Kid and both National Treasure movies previously. The screenplay was co-written by Carlo Bernard (The Uninvited) and Matt Lopez (Bedtime Stories). This is based on the story that first appeared in Disney's Fantasia in 1940. The Sorcerer's Apprentice will hit theaters nationwide on July 14th next month.

I remember the Fantasia movie from when i was younger, and watching this video with that song in it, brings back memories! :), of me watching the Fantasia movie all the time, when i was much younger! 🙂 . I loved the Fantaisa movie, and the song in it, so i know i'm going to love this new "Sorcerer's Apprentice" movie! 🙂 .

Yeh the CG looks awesome i have to say. Just looks like an all-round fun movie. I thought Jay Baruchel was classic in 'Shes Out Of My league' so looking forward to this. Nic Cage can go either way these days...hopefully we see him throwing puches in a bear suit.

Disney will eat itself alive. No need. Still looking forward to the film.

Yes yes...it's all great and everything, but cannot get past Cage and from what I have seen, Baruchel working with a bad actor has rubbed off on him. And not in a good way. "Fantasia" was indeed brilliant.....but this is NOT "Fantasia"....perhaps different casting in a heavy CGI filled film would provide a better product. The Summer keeps looking worse.

Fun, sure. But they need to let go of the connection to the original. This flick will likely be, at best, vapid entertainment. Fantasia was a work of very purposeful art. 'Sorcerer's Apprentice' is just spectacle.

Seems like Disney has another fantasy hit on their hands. After the sucess of their Pirates of the Carribean series, 2 of the Chronicles of Narnia films, Enchanted, and Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, it appears that Disney's stronghold these days are live action fantasy tentpoles.
