Sound Off: DreamWorks' Shrek Forever After - Your Thoughts?

Shrek Forever After

Now that you've seen it, what did you think? It all began back in 2001, and now it comes to an end in 2010 (or so they've claim). DreamWorks Animation's fourth and final movie in the insanely popular Shrek franchise, Shrek Forever After, hits theaters this weekend as the first big animated family movie of the summer. How does it compare to the other Shrek movies? Is it as good as the first one or is it as bad as the third? Is it entertaining to watch and was the 3D up to par? How was the twisted Rumpelstiltskin storyline? If you've seen it already, leave a comment below and let us know what you thought of Shrek Forever After!

I'm not normally a big DreamWorks Animation fan, but I wanted to still open up this discussion for anyone who has seen this movie, since it's supposed to be the end of this franchise. As I've been at the Cannes Film Festival for the past two weeks, I haven't had the chance to Shrek Forever After yet, but you can still discuss your thoughts on it below. I'll be catching this when I return next week and will update this once I've seen it.

What did you think of Shrek Forever After? One of the better Shrek movies or the worst one?

Wouldn't even bother wasting my money on this.

Any credibility Dreamworks got with How To Train Your Dragon they lost with this awful movie.

My favorite thing about the Shrek movies, and particularly part IV, is not seeing them and spending the money I saved by switching to Geico in 15 minutes or less.

I will not be seeing Shrek Forever after because based on what a couple of friend have told me, I don't want to encourage Dreamworks to make more films like it. I also watched How to Train Your Dragon again today, and the theater was crowded and still having a blast.

I will not see it in a boat... I will not see it with a goat... I will not see it in a box... I will not see it with a fox... I will not see it with a friend... I'm just damn glad this is the end!

Too many people are bashing the movie that haven't even seen it. It was very good and funny.

The TV ads for the last couple of days would seem to indicate that they changed the title to "Shrek: The Final Chapter."

People bash it based on precious ones...others simple bash it accidentally like me 'cause I forgot about since the others were such crap.

#13 according to a (positive) review I read, the official, on-screen title is still "Shrek Forever After". "The Final Chapter" is evidently a promotional title.

Got dragged to it tonight with the kids I nanny. It wasn't actually all that bad. I mean, it certainly doesn't compare to the original Shrek by a long shot, and I can't consciously remember laughing at any time during it, but it didn't make me cringe and wish I was somewhere else, and it was much better than the atrocity that was the 3rd movie. I don't know, the kids seemed to like it, and I didn't hate it... I don't think I'd watch it again though,

It wasn't as bad as I or I think anyone would've thought. I'd heard it has the most heart of the franchise, which is actually very true. It's definitely an improvement from Shrek the Third, but my favorite is Shrek 2 and I love the original. That being said I still enjoyed myself. I recommend it for kids and adults alike, and seriously don't write it off as bad just because. Go see it and you might be surprised. The 3D was pretty good. Overall, better than would've anticipated. I give it at least 6/10 or 3 out of 5.

You would have thought that Dreamworks pictures would have made more of a Release for the new Shrek Movie it's been a little low key.

I just saw it a few hours ago. Initially I wasn't looking forward to it, but I'm happy to report it was actually quite good. A lot funnier than I thought it was going to be.

just saw mcgruber it was the best movie of the year by the end of it i was wanting a sequel but seeing the box office results it barely made over 1 million its not going to happen. this movie gave me hope that hollywood is willing to take a risk but now all hope is lost in ever seeing a movie this brave and original ever again. at least shreck bombed that gives me a little hope

I never liked this franchise, I wouldn't mind if it ends soon. If less people want to see this I guess it means not even the fans like it anymore..

Saw it in IMAX 3D, thought it was great fun and a great way to end the series.

Rodney on May 23, 2010

Ho hum another Shrek movie.... it was OK really not on the same level as the first two which is where they should have ended this series after the second one.... hopefully this fourth one will be the last bit of milk that Dreamwors drains from this cash cow.

I haven't seen it and I will not pay to see it because I refuse to contribute any money towards DreamsWorks' cash-grabbing bilge. It's attrocious that people continually whore themselves out to see this and allow this sewage to continue being produced.
