Sucker Punch Won't Be 3D? Zack Snyder Unsure of Conversion

File this under obvious. MTV recently talked with director Zack Snyder about his upcoming action movie Sucker Punch (that we'll be get a look at during Comic-Con). It was announced in March that that Sucker Punch would be going 3D (in addition to Green Lantern) but apparently that was a bit premature. Snyder explains: "We've looked at a bunch of conversions, so whether or not we have the time to do it right — I'm not going to do it if we don't have the time to really be meticulous… It's such an awesome piece of work and everyone's worked so hard to make it awesome, so I don't want to screw it up with bad 3-D." Me either!
Zack's wife & producer Debbie Snyder takes over. "There are all these movies that want to be converted and we just haven't felt like we've seen that proof yet. Visually, Zack's done an amazing job. It's such a spectacle in and of itself and it's so fantastical that it doesn't really need the 3-D." Then don't convert it to 3D! I know Warner Bros recently enacted an all-tentpole-movies-in-3D policy of sorts, but they should realize that audiences don't like converted 3D, even if Clash of the Titans did make them a boatload of money. I can't tell you how happy it makes me to hear that a filmmaker like Zack Snyder realizes it's a bad idea to convert.
Beyond the 3D aspect of the movie, you should be looking forward to Sucker Punch because it's an original idea (and we all know how rare that is). "This is Zack's first original screenplay, him and Kurt Johnstad who was his writing partner on 300," Snyder said. "I think that's really exciting. Everything is so derivative right now in Hollywood, to actually have something that's original is refreshing." It certainly is and from what I've heard about it, it'll be very badass. It's not confirmed that Sucker Punch will no longer be in 3D, but I have a good feeling that's the way they're leaning. We'll let you know when or if we hear any official confirmation.

Nice to know that directors like Zack Snyder are not succumbing to greed. Movies being converted to 3D are such a money-making scam.

Mark my words, they will convert this to 3D, without a doubt.. And it's a shame, I'll be seeing this in 2D.

Well he can see this now, seeing as how "The Legend Of The Guardians" is in 3D. It's like filling your 3D quota and then asking the studios to keep thier grubby little hands of your labor of love. Good business move by The Snyder's...whome by the way I want to have dinner with one day. They are so cute together.
