TGB Episode 8: Oh, The Horror (Remakes)! (Guest: Chase Whale)
by Tim Buel
April 28, 2010
On this week's episode of The Golden Briefcase, Tim & Jeremy are joined by Chase Whale from the Gordon and the Whale blog to discuss their latest Picks of the Week, the newest DVD/Blu-Ray releases, chat about the new The Last Airbender and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse trailers from last week, shame Jeremy for not seeing Into the Wild and much more. The main topic of the show was all things horror remakes (in honor of A Nightmare on Elm Street, which hits theaters this Friday). The guys talk about their favorite (and least favorite) horror remakes and chat about the differences between remakes and re-imaginings. Listen below!
The Golden Briefcase is also broadcast LIVE on Tuesday nights starting at 6:30PM (PST). You can listen in via our Ustream page or by visiting our own live page right here on FS. The podcast is just as fun to listen to live while it's being recorded, with plenty of special guests, so I suggest you tune in the next time it records!

Great show! I will definitely tune in next week. Oh, and maybe The Re-animator could use a re-imagining? Got to love HP Lovecraft!

First listen to TGB and I gotta say, very well done. I love how it's not too long, but it's enough to get information in there, and it's actually interesting. I didn't know Morel direction Distract B13. I didn't even know it existed, I thought District B13: Ultimatum was one of those bad Syfy attempts to cash in on a popular movie (like paranormal entity, transmorphers, the day the earth stopped, etc....terrible. Just added it to instant on Netflix so definitely will check it out. Keep up the good work, I'll be tuning in next week.

Awesome post guys! Great to hear you guys really like the "Dawn of the Dead" remake! I got a lot of flack for saying that in this post when it hit the IMDb Hit List: http://goseetalk.com/2010/04/20/random-film-thought-of-the-day-zombies/ But I still love it and Synder has tons of style...maybe he should be tapped for another horror remake. I really don't think a Child's Play remake would be that interesting of a prospect. But based on what's been done, there's not many options (as far as landmark horror characters) left out there, ya know? Although if they did take it back and get it back on a serious track, it may have some merit. But I hadn't heard about Frightmare Weekend. Thanks for the info. It's pretty close to me...hope I can make it!
