Toby Jones as Arnim Zola

The cast just keeps getting sweeter for Captain America: The First Avenger. Though some of you may not be too psyched about Chris Evans playing the patriotic shield wielding superhero, you cannot deny that Hugo Weaving as Red Skull is some inspired casting. Now it looks like the comic book movie has picked up another great actor for a villainous role as Heat Vision reports Toby Jones (Infamous, The Mist) will play diabolical scientist Arnim Zola, a genetic engineer who created clones and various other monstrosities for Hitler. He also captured his own mental self, inserting it into a robot (as seen above), and survived the war.

As a villain, Zola is quite a force to be reckoned with, not only for Cap but also for The Avengers, so maybe there's a chance we'll see him survive Joe Johnston's introduction in order to bring more chaos for The Avengers to thwart sometime down the road. For those of you worried that there may be too many villains too soon, we're not sure how pivotal or big Jones' part will be in the film, so let's not get all up in arms just yet, especially since production doesn't even start until June. However, with Red Skull and Zola in this, it makes me wonder if we'll see his "artificial humanoids" like Primus, Doughboy or Man-Fish at some point?

Jones has been a exquisite character actor for quite a while (not to mention lending his voice to Dobby the House Elf in the Harry Potter movies). Sadly his stellar performance as Truman Capote in Infamous was overshadowed by Philip Seymour Hoffman's turn as the same real-life character in Capote. I'm very excited to see Jones tackle his first comic book flick and to see Marvel's Universe continue to grow. Sound good?

Bring on the bizarre Pulp Kirby Villains! That's just what this film needs. A tablespoon of Inglorious Basterds' Pulp , and less of Spielberg's Private Ryan Saving.

Somehow I suspect he'll just be another "scientist in a labcoat" and not really anything more than that. I highly doubt they'll put him in his robot body, or even have him create any creatures. He'll probably just be used as a way of explaining the Red Skull's face. If I had to guess. It'd be cool though if in Avengers, they brought together a bunch of "Mad Scientist" characters such as Arnim Zola, and "The Leader" as portrayed by Tim Blake Nelson from "Incredible Hulk".

He will transfer Red Sull's brain into a clone of captain America bringing Red Skull back to fight the Avengers. that's my guess

I guess they use the characters name and just use him as a supporting character cuz they needed a "scientist". As DRm stated, just a man in a labcoat and some fans will cheer when they hear his name.

Why is this crap? It's no more "crap" or strange as any casting, you people can't just write this off he's a great actor and if done well this could be brilliant. We won't know until we see it.

I'm with #9; this whole idea for a movie seems a joke; right up there with Battleship: The Movie , Stretch Artmstrong an G.I. Joe Blow.

If they are going to do it, do it right. I don't want to see another Destro or Cobra who were instant franchise killers.

This looks better than Hellboy , the Nazi era was brutal and fascinating and if they do captain right this could be marvels step into dark territory and more of a serious comic like TDK . I'm starting to dig this movie and the casting of toby jones i think is a good move. make it brutal and gritty and i'll be there opening day.

Alex, you're absolutely right that me and others are not too psyched about the real-life Derek Zoolander bering cast as Captain America. However, I feel less bad about it now I know that a Zoolander sequel might not happen. At least now everytime Chis Evans makes a movie, we get to see a sort of a Zoolander sequel or spin-off. I do agree the casting of Hugo Weaving as Red Skull is great, and Toby Jones and the rumoured Tommy Lee Jones would be great in it too. Still, I think this movie is going to be a Razziefest: Both Chris Evans and female lead Hayley Atwell were the studio's FOURTH choice at best! We know that Evans only got the part because Garret Hedlund, Channing Tatum (yes, THAT Channing Tatum you all love to hate) and apparently Ryan Philippe turned it down. We know that Atwell got the part because Emily Blunt, Alice Eve and even Keira Knightley ended up not wanting it. We also know that candidates had to agree with a low fee and that only Americans were considered (untill the very last bit when Marvel still coulnd't find an American and had Alexander Skarsgaard - who would have been nothing less than totally awesome as Cap - audition for the part in case Zoolander didn't want it). While Sam Worthington is such a fanboy he would have paid to play Cap! I'm also less worried now I know the Ultimates storyline won't be used in this movie: in The Ultimates Captain America was a tragic man ou tof time how woke up after 60 years to discover his best friend Bucky married the love of Cap's life. It was a sad story that would require good acting to pull it off. Evans' Blue Steel/Le Tigre-look would not have been sufficient here. Now we know they chose for the Winter Soldier storyline instead it sounds more like a run of the mill-adventure movie, which is closer to what Derek/Chris could pull off.

i dont care what anybody says chris evans was a good choice! sure there were other options that in many minds could be better but the one thing i know about movies is that dont judge a book by its cover( or in this case a movie by its poster). the movie has not even started filming yet and ignorant people are saying its gonna suck! give it time to breathe and develop! i cant stand it when people say a movie is gonna be crap before set pics are posted! give it time before you judge it thats not to much to ask is it?
