Toy Story 3 is Now Pixar's Highest Grossing Movie in the US!

You knew it would happen. But who's going to win the summer movie game now? After coming in, officially, at #4 at the box office this past weekend with a little boost from Monday, Pixar's Toy Story 3 has become Pixar's highest grossing movie at the US box office (domestic), in only 4 weekends. It passed Finding Nemo with a current grand total of $342,040,500 million, only $2.3 million over Nemo's total. Released in May 2003, it took Finding Nemo 23 weeks to earn that much, so I'm sure Toy Story 3 will continue like a freight train earning copious amounts of money and setting records for a while. I wonder if it'll be #1 this summer?
It's not that surprising to see Toy Story 3 performing so well, but damn that was a very quick rise to the top. I guess it's just impressive to see this Pixar movie, compared to the last few, earn so much so quickly, but it deserves it, it's such a wonderful movie. I remember walking out of the theater and thinking that was truly worth the money I spent to see it (despite the very loud guy behind me). It's great in 3D, it's great in 2D, it's just a fantastic movie overall, congrats to director Lee Unkrich and everyone at Pixar/Disney. Toy Story 3 has made $555 million worldwide and is still just hitting theaters in places like France, Spain and the UK.

Thats awesome......I love pixars film, except for Cars. ( 365 times is enough Cars for me )

I think it's well deserved... it's a great film, maybe the most emotional "movie for kids" I have ever seen in my entire life. I quote Kevin Smith's twitter: "Me and the kid went to TOY STORY 3 today, aka SCHINDLER'S TOYBOX. Jesus Christ, I haven't cried that much since my Dad died. A+" That says it all!

Okay. Those are some big numbers when you spell em out. Still haven't seen it. I have to agree Jnyce. Cars was a bit of a drag, but what do you mean 365 is enought cars?

ah ah ah [Wagging finger like Newman from Jurassic Park] "I did really enjoy it and have a fun time watching it, but that's really all there was, nothing more to make it extraordinary. It's a bit hard to say, because I love Pixar so much, but it felt like this lacked the same magic of Pixar movies of past...I had a great time, but I don't think this will become a new Pixar favorite for me." https://www.firstshowing.net/2010/03/16/showest-alexs-first-reaction-to-seeing-pixars-toy-story-3/ :o) Glad you changed your mind because it's definitely one of my favorites. I enjoyed it much more than Up, Monsters Inc, or Nemo. My favorites would now be Walle, The Incredibles, Toy Story 1, and then Toy Story 3.

I rekon that there are a couple of films that will overtake Toy Story 3, One of them is Deathly Hallows, the other is Inception.

@7 Deathly hallows part 1 isn't out untill november and then the 2nd part is out next july, also I can't wait to see Inception but I don't think it will have the same pulling power as Toy story 3 has so I'd say Toy story will comfortably beat it at the box office.

@ 3 when I was dating my ex, her nephew would watch Cars all the time. We went out for 3 years so I guessed that I saw that movie a total of 365 times through out our relationship. Btw loved the Kevin Smith comment.

@8 maybe so. But the real mystery is Tron Legacy.
