Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader

You're adventure begins now! You've gotta love Chronicles of Narnia fans. The fans of MundoNarnia (via SlashFilm) just dug up the first full trailer for Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader, the second sequel in the Chronicles of Narnia franchise (which started with The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe in 2005). This time the four siblings end up taking a journey on a ship called the Dawn Treader, which takes them to all kinds of spectacular places. This definitely looks like a strong return to the magical world of Narnia that fans have been waiting for. I actually think this looks pretty damn good. Take a look.

Watch the first trailer for Michael Apted's Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader:

The trailer is now available in high definition thanks to an official upload on YouTube - enjoy.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is directed by British filmmaker Michael Apted, of films like Class Action, Thunderheart, Extreme Measures, The World Is Not Enough, Amazing Grace and The Power of the Game previously. The screenplay was written by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely (You Kill Me, Prince Caspian, Marvel's Captain America) and Michael Petroni (Queen of the Damned, Boys Own Story, Possession). This is based on the third book in C.S. Lewis' beloved Chronicles of Narnia series. 20th Century is bringing Dawn Treader to theaters everywhere, in 3D, on December 10th.

I knew once it was announced that they were making Narnia that this book would translate best to film. There is so much potential for brilliant visuals. I can't wait for this one, but it does shock me that all four siblings are seen because they aren't in the book.

I am so excited. Book inconsistencies be damned, so much LOOKS visually correct - which I couldn't say for a lot of the previous films (save some inspired moments in LWW - the lamppost, etc). Also, Michael Apted shows how much more confident of a director he is than Adamson.

That's very odd that the trailer showed Peter and Susan, since they weren't supposed to go back to Narnia, and they're not listed in the credits on IMDB.

wygit on Jun 16, 2010

I think Peter and Susan are shown in fantasy sequences. That's what I gather based on Lucy seeing Susan as her reflection. All I know is Michael Apted is a brilliant director and I can't wait to see what he does with the movie. Strange that Caspian wasn't really featured in the trailer though.

From what i can see in the trailer, it looks as if this movie would of been better looking from what we see in the trailer, if Disney was the studio making this movie, and not anyone else!. They should of made this movie, and no one else!.

yes please.

@6 Disney was only a partner in the production process. Walden Media was the main producer of the film and has been the main producer of all the films. The Lewis Estate wouldn't let Disney touch it alone. They tried back in the '90s to to modernize it and change the wardrobe into a swimming pool in LA. Whether its Disney or Fox putting up the money, it is still Walden Media producing it. Personally I already think this looks better than either of the other films and I think that has to do with the director.

the first one sucked, this will too...

Oh god, this looks so cheap. Who gives the money for such crap? Seriously, millions of dollars for something so bad acted and directed?

It definitely looks better than the second one. I need a second trailer to make up my mind.

Ugh, I hate this franchise even more then Twilight.

It just looks like a cringeworthy remake of neverending story. Both films suck, this will be the worst

Question: What happen to the older brother & sister?

i'll just read the books. it's about time it stops collecting dust.

The second was treacherous. the first one was magical and uplifting. As for the third one, it looks like it will be on the same level as the third. Walden Media is awesome.

The first 2 were just ok so I'm surprised they made a 3rd. I'll probably rent it eventually or accidentally see for free.

Looks pretty good i guess, but the one thing i never liked about this one is the fact that Susan and Peter weren't a part of it anymore. Unless they like, changed the story. I'm actually excited to see how this one fares without Disney, because in my opinion, Disney was stupid for dropping the franchise when it has been pretty darn successful up until this point. I've not really been fan of the first two, but I like them enough to get excited when I see the trailers (don't ask me why, though it's probably a childhood connection to the stories from watching the BBC versions).

looks alright.

@13, Aslan's not on the ship with them, he's with Lucy on one of the islands, off-ship. @15, I'd seek counseling for that. @17, See the end of "Prince Caspian".

Definately a christmas-time movie where it belongs... I guess we can thank LOTR for that. 🙂

It actually looks pretty good, and I'm surprised. I guess I'm also surprised that odd looking kid from the first two flics is turning out to be kind'a cute.

The Dawn Treader is my personal favorite of the series. But I always thought it would be difficult to put it to film. I was pretty disappointed with Prince Caspian... I hope this one delivers.

Max Fischer on Jun 17, 2010

How can anyone take anything in this article seriously? the first word of "YOUR" entire piece is used improperly. Grammatical errors = loses all credibility. Come on. "YOU'RE" better than that, guy.

fun police on Jun 17, 2010

27

How ironic that Dawn Tredder is released at Christmas because Prince Caspianb underperformed during the summer, that we had 2012, a cliched end-of-the-world ensemble which was essentially a delayed summer blockbuster, released in the middle of November.

@Gav, It was the Mass effect 2 song for the 2009 E3 trailer, recognized it right away cause its so damn epic.

Hope this one does well... I want to see the series go straight into The Silver Chair. And hopefully after that, The Last Battle. After that they can go back and do the other two books.

The song @ 1:20 is "Heart of Courage" by Two Steps from Hell.

112 captures from the trailer: http://www.internapse.com/trailers.php?id=3191 There are a few scenes in this trailer which really showcase its CGI and "wow" factor. The scenes with the "magic" are nicely done as well.

44

I like the first 2 movies. Pretty solid for what they are. But to be honest, that trailer is a little underwhelming. I know I will see it anyways. Just hope there's more than what I get from the trailer.
